[4K] Blue Angel 7 Departure from Oakland (KOAK)

Watch as Blue Angel 7 Lcdr. Julius Bratton (Whiskers), and one of the 2022 Blue Angels F/A-18 demonstration pilots depart from the Oakland International Airport (KOAK) in two F/A-18F Super Hornets en route to the Northern Colorado Regional Airport (KFNL). The Blue Angels wrapped up Fleet Week 2021 yesterday on 10/10/2021 showcasing their new F/A-18 Super Hornets and C-130J Super Hercules for the first time over the San Francisco Bay Area, and will headline the Great Colorado Airshow this week in Loveland, CO. Apologies for the sometimes blurry lines you'll see in the video, I was recording the jets through a chain-link fence off the approach end of RWY 28L. Footage from this year's Fleet Week will be uploaded to this channel later this week from both Saturday and Sunday shows in 4K, stay tuned!

@@_wingflexaviation_ What's your setup for shooting stuff like this? I just use my phone but would love to have something better. I'm looking forward to your Delta departure. I just posted the Delta arriving at KFNL this morning.

@@erikhaire9853 Hey Erik! I used to use my phone as well for videos so no shame in that! I currently use a Sony FDR-AX53 for recording my videos. It does 1080P up to 60FPS and 4K up to 30FPS and it has auto stabilization so it really helps when you're zoomed in. My video of the Delta departing this morning is just wrapping up on the upload and my video for Saturday's show over Fleet Week is still processing the 4K resolution but both should be up today!

Yep! The team has multiple jets beyond just the 6 demonstration aircraft you see in the show. Typically sometime after they select the next year's team it isn't uncommon to have one of the "khaki newbies" bring an extra 8th jet with them just as a spare if they encounter maintenance issues on the road. The big numbers you see on the back of all of their jets are just stickers so they can interchange numbers if they want to swap jets at any point.

The #'s on the tails are just stickers the crew switches out when needed. Pretty cool right! Actually, I didn't know that until I read about it not long ago.
