Thank you for this wonderful winter ride up into the mountains! The switchback operation at Nihongi is very interesting, especially that you can see in the mirror that the driver does it just looking out of the window, without a brakeman at the other end of the train. I know of only four similar stations, all of them in Japan (Obasute Station & Kuwanohara Signal Station on the Shimono Line, Shingai Station on the Dosan Line and Jomon Signal Station on the Sekihoku Line), but all the videos I have seen were from through trains.
