As the video shows, we owe it all to the roots and how it has shaped throughout the ages, and to remind us what we grew up with! With a smoother computer i'm able to see a lot of things now. Thank you for this Mark. This composition is an ingenious way of exploring the artistry of the world you have crafted in Death of Hope, and the 4K rendering is perfect. Not only have you anchored your influences to their origins both old and new but also linked the original artists to the creations. The explanation of the story influences is fascinating and also directly silences some of the criticism you received when Reign of Anarchy was released, for example the mother and child fusion is a direct visualisation of an event in the Black Library novel “Honour The Dead”. I also really appreciate how this showcases your intricate creations - I saw so many details in the characters and settings that I’d missed in previous watchings when my mind was immersed in your story telling. I really appreciate you mentioning me in the credits and I’m deeply honoured to have my humble name associated with your masterpiece. Heritage - the perfect title.

This video is a great idea, so people who get scared by the episode can understand the thinking behind, why the stuff is as it is. @Tactical Bacon Reddit has a love boner for the Astartes series and can't compartmentalise the fact that amateur work will provide amateur results and professional experience will provide higher quality results. So in their 10 IQ they've called Mark's work a walking simulator that doesn't make sense and have nitpicked every single detail because it doesn't live up to Astartes. This may or may not be true for some people, but it doesn't change the fact that you should be intelligent enough to have different standards for artists with different levels of experience and hardware.
@thewretchedpleb74844 жыл бұрын
I don't get why they'd be comparing this to astartes anyway, aside from the aforementioned low IQ. Astartes is a small scale story about one mission by one chapter (about which most of us also knew jack shit, for the people complaining about DoH being convoluted). Death of Hope seemed to be a larger scale story involving at least a few different factions (ultramarines, world eaters in ep1 as example). So why are people comparing apples to oranges? Especially so beautiful an orange as this? Someone needs to call off the Ordo Autismus already >:/

Its incredible. No other video has been able to do this. Period. Not even the Astartes project. That is the thing. I know how it's supposed to look or come close to looking due to me growing up with it and it directly influencing my artwork from child to adult. To know what something looks like and build it in CGI requires a fan that knows it all. I don't trust the world to depict it for us, because the hands that make things these days only ride hype trains or are paid to do it but never knew about warhammer till someone knocked on their door. This will be a memory for us in the times ahead :) But most importantly a tribute and honor to those that created i for us, lest they be forgotten decades from now.

I think this video really showcased some of the components a less than full blown lore fan would recognize. Even in the KZbin breakdowns of the video, some of the imagery is missed. This is a really helpful creation. I see so much more of the intended meaning now. What a great look at the darkness of the warp and 30K. I love the Galvorbak! Mark, as a person who has passion in art, as I tend to write more than I can animate or visually conceptualize a world you can build. You'll always have that moment, to say it's not worth it, or good enough...but, that's the price for having talent and having so many people talk shit. They can't be you, who can do it, believe me! I don't like ego, or having vanity yet objectively look at what you made and compare that as passion alone, for not being paid or being considered work, it's your project: No one can say they did it, but you. I'll stress that canceling Death of Hope is a bad decision, now more than ever we need people, fans or passionate souls who can bring back what Warhammer 40,000 is supposed to be...A Grim Dark Universe, that offers only absolution for those who hold true to endure horrors no man believe is real, yet are so closer to us than we realize. I implore you, ignore the 'negativity', get a laugh out of it if someone complains so badly? It means they're angered, because they can't do what you can. I can't even pull this off, since writing is limited yet I'm able to do things few keep grilling myself over. I do it for fun, not for professional funding or whatever, because this is the joy of being an artist. Whether Art is writing, reading, animation or drawing, it provides showcases of raw talent, it doesn't take a genius to realize this isn't something we're going to see again. And if GW is actively trying to suppress you, then I say...to hell with them, simply laugh at them and those in these comments below: "You can't censor, or stop me, because I can do this when you can't even decide if you're insane to believe Warhammer 40,000 is a safe place for your feelings." Either way, it's your decision and I hope you don't cancel or be demoralized. You did a great thing, it's a privilege to view artists who can bring life what many can't imagine. Nonetheless, I hope you're doing well and, as always, it's been a pleasure watching Death of Hope. May your soul decide upon an answer, if your own mind cannot be conclusive.

It's not sunshine and rainbows over here. Everyones dealing with the current state of the world differently then they normally would. I'm working 8am to 3am most days sometimes 10am to 1am, for the past month, 6 days a week. Prior to that, death of hope ruined a lot of bridges in my life and back then I didn't care because I was using passion. That passion eroded over time with people talking shit. I was not meant for the world wide web. As someone who's stupid love language is words of affirmation, it was already a challenge facing all this before. Now? with what ZERO reserve I have for myself and my own relationship of 9 years, it is really not worth it at all. I'm delaying my marriage for this dam thing. Told my partner of the plans already, she's excited to get back to life in a normal way sooner. < and I want that more then create stuff for ungrateful dicks @ the end of it all. In the end, this is for my own personal health. I'm doing part 2 with three 2 minute shorts before it, but after that? i'm finished.

@@marklouisspark That's your choice, but the world was NEVER sun-shine and rainbows. I'm not going to convince you, or try too, I'm only going to say you do have talent. Don't forget it, do what you can to balance passions, life and find some peace Mark. World-Wide Web is literally a place of egos, doesn't change the fact it just reflects us all. Thanks for answering Mark, I can only hope you find that answer. Everyone has their priorities, that's a fact of life and I am not saying it as sarcasm. Then someone told me that was a pretty good representation of warp-space in 40k. Played the DoW game, it was fun, but didn't exactly ooze grimdark. That meme that describes 40k warp travel? You know the one. I didn't see any representation of that in the games. Started watching Arch videos, and got the feeling that the grim stuff was not in the future at all, but the past. Like a part of the story GW would rather forget about. Astartes was awesome. Fast-paced, dense and effective. A good one-two punch. Definitely want more of that. Your stuff, though... That's something else. All atmosphere and autistic attention to detail. Grim. Dark. Something I'd like to bathe in. It's what I thought I would find in Warhammer, but couldn't see anywhere. (also a massive fan of world eaters so that’s a nice bonus!) i only have one timy gripe and that’s that bolter rounds shouldn’t leave such clean holes. the dead bois floating in space look like they kinda got hole-punched (although the armor damage detail is fantastic!). bolters should leave a decent-sized entry hole, but the mass-reactive explosives should be leaving ragged, gaping wounds, armor blown out their backs, etc. that is my single point of barely-criticism, i think seeing another episode would make me happy beyond words. please continue creating content, i will be eagerly awaiting! p.s. i shared this video to my friends that are also into warhammer p.p.s. not to be that guy to flex donating but as soon as my next paycheck hits i’m visiting your patreon. you deserve massive amounts of support for this, and the fact that you’re doing this project solo makes it even more incredible. thank you for reading this if you got all the way down, and thank you for creating this absolute masterpiece!

Mark, you can be my GW wingman anytime! This is so incredible. I grew up on all that grimdark artwork as well, and seeing it brought to life is amazing. So much attention to detail, I would love to know what Jes Goodwin thinks of this, seeing all their old work being brought to life. People should just really enjoy this for what it is....

Goodness I love this whole thing. You did an amazing job man and I hope you continue to do more. This animation style is brutal and amazing. Really captures the grim dark. I love that you stay true to enough to keep it in the lord, but also tell your own bits. I need more. I feel like I just found a new song and I need to listen to it until I know all the lyrics. Keep up the good work man.

You have unbelievable talent my friend. I cannot even begin to fathom how you manage to produce such quality content while working a full time job. I was into 30k/40k some years ago, but over time it stopped being a hobby for me. That all changed when I came across your work. It's inspired me to get back into it and learn about all the lore I can. Can't wait to see the next installment of your work man.

"All of you" "You guys" This video specifically was so that mark can show off his work, and he did every single thing you see on screen. Yes he credited the artists who made the physical miniatures, but everything you see, 3D models, Animation, Direction, this is HIS personal project meaning every pixel yo usee, every detail corner of EVERYTHING he made from nothing. This video he made as a showcase of his work. "All of you" "You guys" is not correct!

@@DarkMter Well, i did add some music into it and i did credited so my work dont count then? XD

@@TimNAudio Something like this, made by one guy meaning models, animation, story, design direction, lighting, shading, overall VISION, this is his work in that sense. For god sakes this kinda work requires someone to lock themselves away for god knows how long, I'm pretty sure the others like yourself that helped (which was only Voice acting and music) didn't get their life effected by this massive endeavor the way it does to him. Mute the video, and it's all him >> 100%
@TimNAudio4 жыл бұрын
@@DarkMter Thats interessting of you to say considering you dont know anything about me or my life and to assume the effort i put in for his project is that small. Im not saying he didnt put his all into it, but you assume he was the only one pouring everything he had into this. Not only is it insulting for people who took part in the project overall but also dissrespectful to mark as you said yourself, its his project and he feel the same as the rest of us. Give credit where credit is due. If it wasnt for the voice cast and the work others put into it as well, it would just be the work he did with no sound amongst other things. If you feel that is all you need, feel free to mute the video and just look at it. And i highly doubt Mark himself thinks that little of the people he worked with. But you have a right to your opinion but dont judge others for saying "All of you" and "you guys" as a way to praise the work of everyone involved.
@DarkMter4 жыл бұрын
@@TimNAudio So tell me, how many days in total did you spend on this project? I'm sure Mark could confirm. I don't doubt it takes some work to do your music, but his work over shadows the effort it took to do his.

It bothered me too when I saw it XD It was actually well hidden due to the lighting from the older PC in part 1. The updated Unreal and the new Rig actually made the lighting better and it reached areas that I didn't work in. Totally get it :)
