@@AnujN The problem that since Mumbai is an island it cannot grow horizontally is not a problem at all. Its an excuse by the politicians and builder nexus to build skyscrapers and coastal roads on expensive Mumbai land and even worse bridges in the ocean(e.g. Bandra-Worli sea link) to make quick and huge money at the expense of destroying nature (and its beauty), sane living in and sane development of Mumbai. The FSI must be fixed at 1or less and the height of buildings must be fixed at 98 feet or less both depending on the natural underground water-table level (this will control the population explosion and keep population at the right level/square km. Also this will prevent an already worldwide hazardous phenomenon called 'the sick building effect' which leads to death due to cancer, kidney failure, TB, chronic respiratory disorders amongst others. Also this will prevent an already worldwide catastrophe i.e. flooding that happens because higher FSI and taller buildings lead to larger underground foundations of those buildings which leads to less space for water both in the rocky aquifers and the soil which leads to a catastrophic rise in the water-table which leads to flooding. Also this will prevent tripling or quadrupling of electricity bills which happens because tall buildings lead to almost no daylight penetration on the ground or inside the houses or offices which leads to usage of electricity throughout the day for light and air-conditioning which leads to multiple times higher bills. ) . The island (seperated by the Ulhas river) must be connected to its surrounding cities that are NaviMumbai, Thane, Vasai-Virar by bridges across the river ( bridges already existing and Trans Harbour Link across Ulhas river's Vashi creek coming up) and further by roads (roads already existing) and metros (not existing) to Thane, Kalyan-Dombivli, Navi Mumbai, Panvel, Badlapur, Ambernath, Vasai-Virar. Not by making insane coastal roads (including bridges) in the ocean and on the beaches destroying all the open spaces (beaches) and beautiful (happiness-giving) views (the sea,the horizon, the sky, the sunset) and the underwater flora and fauna (including planktons that light up the sea at night). There must not be any bridge in the ocean (from Bandra to Versova) or on the beaches or shore areas or hills/mountains) to obstruct and hinder beautiful views from the beaches or from anywhere inland. There must be unobstructed, unhindered views,as there are now, (except the Bandra-Worli Sea Link which makes ugly the view from Bandra, Mahim, Worli). Also from such beautiful places as beaches, seashores and others, the skyscrapers must not be visible. Mumbai is the number 1 tourist (local i.e. from the city, from the state, national, international) destination in India because of its hills including Andheri (Andhra Giri which is 200 feet tall, monolithic, mesozoic era, 6.6 crore years old, the only one inside a city in the whole world, one of the only two anywhere in the whole world, heritage site ), 6 rivers (Ulhas river which forms the Thane creek and the Vasai creek to form the Shatshasti island, Mahim river i.e. the so-called mithi river, the Oshiwara river, the Thane/Mulund river, the Dahisar river, the Poisar river), numerous rivulets (nalas) all over the city, 19 beaches, 104 sq km National park, Thane creek National wildlife sanctuary, Aarey colony (including forests, Chhota Kashmir garden, film city's lake), mangrove forests, wetlands, natural and heritage man-made saltpans, more than 88 lakes, 150 ancient caves, more than 950 gardens and parks of Mumbai, beaches of Vasai-Virar, Palghar and Raigad amongst other tourist attractions. The value of Mumbai's natural resources of aesthetic concern and/or man-made tourist attractions must be conserved by not making man-made structures (including skyscrapers, transportation infrastructure ) near it or visible from its location. People of Maharashtra must go to court and also do an andolan against the gov (Modi gov, Shinde gov or Thackeray gov or Congress gov or any gov) that plans and permits such purposeful desecration of natural beauty and get a permanent ban on desecration of and a permanent law for protection of natural beauty of Maharashtra.

For those who are asking why so many potholes, here's my answer :- 1) The project was undertaken by BMC ( Bombay Municipal Corporation ) and is the biggest project undertaken by BMC in its entire history. 2) BMC insisted on using Bitumen roads instead of Concrete, likely to reduce costs. But the catch with bitumen roads is that they require constant maintenance, especially during heavy monsoons. 3) Almost all major projects undertaken by the central government (NHAI) use concrete, like the Delhi Mumbai expressway, Samruddhi Mahamarg, Atal Setu, Bandra Worli sea link, Surat Chennai expressway, etc etc etc. I think BMC should have went with concrete as well because cost of maintaining the bitumen roads would eventually catch up or even cross that of upfront cost of concrete. Anuj N, pin this comment if you think others should know this information as well.

People only focus on that 50 meter of span, and assume all wrong. Those patches are not for potholes, they are done because of water was getting collected like small puddles, u can see watermarks just behind those patches too , at those places, that why to level up they put layer on it. (that the sign of bad sloping, on that section) (And patching work is used for potholes as well but with different filling)

There cannot be crossing by cars coming from North to South to go to 2nd Arch Bridge ? or the course of movement will change once the 2nd Arch Bridge would be ready ?

Finally after 2-3 decades of abject neglect, infrastructure development is happening in Mumbai , but infrastructure in Delhi has got huge investments , similarly infrastructure development in Mumbai needs both state and central government to invest heavily . If Mumbai speeds up Indian GDP growth will touch 10% , but Mumbai slowing down and wasting time in traffic has meant Indian GDP growth rates is just about 7% , so time to think and invest

I saw Tokyo, Seoul, Beijing, Shanghai, Jakarta, Manilla, Bangkok, Singapore, Hong Kong, Kuala lumpur, Phnom Penh, Vientiane, Ho Chi Minh city, Yangon, Taipei etc. Their footpaths are wide and low in height with grey marvel or rock or stone or tiles whatever. Their road dividers are lower in height and full of greeneries and tree plantations. Modern design of street lights and traffic lights. Lots of gardens, landscapes and quite flat pavements. No political parties posters. Litter-bins are everywhere. People use subways, footbridges and sky walk for walking purpose. No red paint or stain of beetle leaf beetle nuts juices or any tobacco products. No trash on roads or streets or lanes or gardens. No leaflet or posters sticked on any building. Not much noisy. No unnecessary honking. Low air and sound pollution. Mostly dividers are painted either black and white or a few are red and white not much black and yellow stripes. Which makes those cities look like a beautiful world-class international city. Which is clean and green. And these things are missing in Indian metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai, Kolkata, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Surat, Kochi, Trivandrum, Chandigarh, Noida, Gurgaon, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Patna, Agra, Kanpur, Bhopal, Indore, Bhuveneswar, Nagpur, Guwahati, Greater Noida, Navi Mumbai, Dholera, Gift city, Vizag etc. No matter how much infrastructure Indian government develops Indian metro cities will never look like a world-class international city. A country does not develop just by building tall skyscrapers. It depends on many things. Thats why Indian metro cities are far behind South East and East Asian cities and other Western European, North American, and Oceanian cities.

The potholes being patched up should be a bigger concern, it simply unacceptable to use bitumen to save a few rupees on a project that should last decades. Also, the on-ramp into the old worli sea link seems like it’s just destined for accidents to happen. Does anyone else not feel like that’s not the safest merge?

I was excited at the beginning of the video and infrastructure development in our country always makes me happy. However the reality is that the construction quality of these projects is rarely up to the mark. There are already repaired patches on this new 13 thousand crore project and that's simply unacceptable. The lane markings have already started fading. we waste money painting tunnels with artwork which is completely nonsensical. Tunnel walls are not meant to showcase art, as such distractions can cause accidents. Many countries have even banned billboards for the same reason, as they can distract drivers. there are strict regulations to preserve aesthetics, reduce distractions, and improve safety. It surprises and saddens me that as a country we are capable of landing on the moon but we still can't build good quality roads or make sensible infrastructure decisions even after spending such huge amounts of money.

No, the newly opened southbound connector will only cater to northbound traffic as of now. By the end of this year, this connector will begin to cater southbound flow, and current northbound flow will be directed to the northbound connector that shall be opened by then.

Most of the morons complaining about the patchwork have never driven on roads outside of India. I drove on this road about 3 weeks ago when I was in Mumbai.... and it matched up to the European roads I travel on everyday. Patchwork is common even on those roads... not to mention this is probably the most high standard patchwork I've ever seen in India! It is very smooth to drive on! My legs felt like they were at a spa after having the misery of driving on Indian traffic for quite a few days. If only they would raise the speed limit to 100+ on certain patches. 😈
