This camera is $1500 in 2024. Was $16,000 at release. This is just insane value. I'm getting one!

Got one this week for $2,000. C300 MKII, 2 BP-A60 batteries, 1 BP-A30, 3 256gb Cfast 2.0 cards, waterproof hard storage/transport case. I’m going to make it my A-cam and use my C100 MKII as my B-cam. If you can grab that one for $1,500, jump on that deal. The C300 MKII is an amazing camera still in 2024. Especially for these prices.

Why didn’t you use C-Log 2 since it’s the original Log curve for the camera and since it also is the flattest and deepest Log curve?

I've seen a lot of examples and I almost always prefer 410 mbps XF-AVC from the C300 over the Cinema RAW Light from the C200. Sometimes the footage is extremely close but on this channel the two cameras are different enough where the XF-AVC comes out ahead for me.

Excellent overview Recently added a shotgun inferno & it feels as if a new life has been breathed into this rig.

Also just done the same - We have two, one with the Inferno and another with a Sumo (when required). Really nice set up to work with, depending on the shoot requirements.

Just recently bought this camera. I was curious, what would you advise for a proxy DIT workflow. Should I have just one large SD card that can record the proxy files for the whole shoot day, or try to match the SD card to the CFast cards and swap the SD every time I do a card swap? If the latter, what size SD would compliment a 128GB Cfast, as the bitrates recorded to each are vastly different and result in massive different recording times.

Here's a response from Geoff, one of our tech specialists: In 4K Cine or UHD the C300 Mk II shoots to an intraframe version of Canon’s XF-AVC codec which would give a bit rate of ~328mbps at 23.98fps. A 128GB CFast card will last for approximately 52 minutes at these settings. The proxy version of XF-AVC (long-GOP, 8-bit, 4:2:0 color subsampling) is only 24mbps in HD 1920x1080. Even a comparatively small 32GB SD Card will run for nearly three hours. So, with the approach outlined in the comment, you would have to change the SD card after every third change of the CFast media. Or, with a 128GB SD card for proxies, you could likely roll all day (it would last nearly 12 hours -- but I would still probably offload at lunch just for peace of mind).

@@AbelCine_official We're rolling with 32GB cards and offloading with each CFast. Helps keep it clean in the post workflow.

AbelCine Thanks for taking the time to reply. I am curious, have you guys found a workaround for the file name issue in Premiere Pro for relinking the high res footage? In the past Premiere only allowed easy toggling with master and proxy files with the exact same file names - however the C300MK2 adds a “_P” to the end of the filenames for the proxies. Is there a batch workaround to this? Or are we still stuck manually linking each file?
@GaryHuff6 жыл бұрын
@@KoriMoncur First, you don't "relink". You import the regular footage into Premiere. Then you select the clips and "Attach Proxies", then use the options to match via file extension (both will be .MXF) and timecode, not filename. This will connect the proxies to the clips. If you need to move the project with just the proxies for editing on-the-go, you can, just tell it to offline the regular clips when you open the project. You'll then reconnect to the original media, when you are back with it, but it will know the exact file names.

@@AbelCine_official I think you only get 40 minutes in 4k using a 128gb card.
