Freiburg im Breisgau is a city in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, with a population of about 220,000. In the south-west of the country, it straddles the Dreisam river, at the foot of the Schlossberg. Historically, the city has acted as the hub of the Breisgau region on the western edge of the Black Forest in the Upper Rhine Plain. A famous old German university town. The city is known for its medieval minster and Renaissance university, as well as for its high standard of living and advanced environmental practices. The city is situated in the heart of the major Baden wine-growing region and serves as the primary tourist entry point to the scenic beauty of the Black Forest. According to meteorological statistics, the city is the sunniest and warmest in Germany.

Hi Gerald I also worked in Freiburg in the late 70's as a bricklayer (Maurer) also in Titisee, Todtnau and Mullheim Baden. Your Dad is 101% correct. Stunning both the City the region and the people.

Environmentally greenest city in the world! I really ache to see Freiburg again, I used to bring my kids here when they were little and they put rubber ducks in the Bachle, ate amazing food, ran around without worrying about cars. Was a poor single mom but I somehow saved what I could to show them their German roots! Best memories, ty for beautiful film 😇

Freiburg is a very beautiful city, but the most striking thing about this video is the almost total absence of motorcars. Everyone is on foot, on a bike, or in an electric tram. And notice that (like the Bernese) the Freiburgers are quite happy to have the overhead electric wires powering the trams run through their very historic city streets and even through medieval gateways.
