Wow. I love these UHD movie quality flight videos. Wow. LOTS of good views along the way! Good views of Nebraska. Good views of Wyoming. Good views of the Wind River Range. GREAT views of Jackson Lake and the Grand Tetons! During the 2017 solar eclipse, this was the place to be. Good views of the River of No Return Wilderness Area in ID. Back in the 1930s, this was known as The Primitive Area because it was a very large unexplored wilderness which prompted the US Govt, to preserve it forever. Great views of the Wallowas in NE OR. These are a unique set of mountains. Geologically, they're allochthonous. This is a fancy way of saying that they were part of a land mass that was somewhere else and brought here. They were part of the Island Range of Vancouver Island which is why they're geologically similar in many ways. The Wallowas have plant and animal life found in both the Rockies and the Cascades. Good views of the WA Cascades. Good view of Lake Tapps. Good view of Sumner. GREAT view of Sea-Tac Airport from way up high! Good views of both floating bridges. Excellent view of Sand Point and Magnuson Park. This is where my favorite swimming spot is along Lake Washington. Good views of Laurelhurst and Windemere. I even saw my friend's house! Good view of the UW. Good view of the Sand Point Country Club. Great view of Downtown Seattle. Good view of the Space Needle. Good view of the I-90 Bridge. I've walked across that bridge many, many times.Good views of Mercer Island. And... good view of Bill Gates' house! Also, good view of Hunts Point. This is where the uber-rich live. That and Medina. Fun fact. The day you did this flight had one of the lowest tides ever recorded at -4.3 at around 12 Noon. My GF and I were at our favorite beach ooohing and aahhing at the marine life. The tide was WAY out there!
@sla312 жыл бұрын
That's all very great info as always, but that's really cool about the tide. Searching around tide pools and such is always one of my favorite activities at any beach. Sounds like I should've taken some time away from the airport on this day!

I really like Alaska Airlines. If they had a bigger presence away from the west coast I'd fly them more often. But, I con't really like having to connect in Seattle every time I need to go from Kansas City to Atlanta haha.

I don't know the answer to that. I don't track any of the speeds during my flights. This was a rather chipper taxi though. I'll tell you one other thing... I didn't think chipper was a word I'd be using today haha.

Great fly! Have you heard 8 people were hospitalized (6 passengers and 2 crew members) after the American (under the name Envoy Air) flight from TPA to BNA (Nashville) was having unexpected turbulence and diverted to BHX (Birmingham) instead?
@sla312 жыл бұрын
I did hear about that. Pretty rare to have turbulence hit at a point in the flight where that many people are injured. Thankfully they all got bak on the ground though.

First of all, great video. I do have a few questions though. I know that these videos are hours long, are in 4k and I'm assuming 60 fps which means that these file sizes must be massive. Is your iPhone able to hold all of that footage at once? It would make sense if you use one of those 512GB phones. Or do you need to upload the footage to apple cloud to store the videos? Roughly how large are all the files for say a 3 hour video like this one? My other question is do you edit and make these videos on phone (like InShot or iMovie) or do you send it to an external PC or other device and edit it there? Keep up the great work and I freaking love Alaskan Airlines. I am going to Seattle, Fairbanks, Minneapolis and Los Angeles in a week and a half which is why I was asking all those sorts of questions in the first place. In Fairbanks, I will also be getting some seaplane action there and I'd really like to get those on YT but I only have the basic 128GB storage. Any suggestions? You're my #1 youtuber out of the current 540 I'm subbed to btw.
@sla312 жыл бұрын
Thanks my friend. Yes, my videos are all filmed at 4K 60fps. Even the ones in the last year that were uploaded at 30fps were actually filmed at 60fps. My editing software at the time was the limitation there. I don't use any cloud storage. I keep everything on my iPhones, plural. I travel with 3 iPhones. One 1TB iPhone 13 Pro, and two 512GB iPhone 12 Pros. This gives me 2TB of storage to use on every trip. I also don't use these phones for anything other than filming, so they're not full of other stuff that takes up space. I clean them off before every trip, so I always have 2TB of storage. I then offload them and edit them on my computer, which is a 2020 27" iMac with a 3.6 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9, 64 GB 2667 MHz DDR4, and a 3TB solid state drive. After I edit videos and upload footage, the footage then gets cataloged and moved to external storage drives. Of which I now have over 200TB of. Filming flights like this takes up a lot of space, and honestly, it was my biggest limitation when I started this channel with a 16GB iPhone 4 haha. With 128GB you'll be able to store a decent amount of footage, but probably not the entirety of all your flights. I hope that helps. I'm really glad you enjoy the channel so much my friend!
@BKeane222 жыл бұрын
@@sla31 🤯 You’re the greatest. Yeah I don’t have storage like that 😂. You care so much about the quality of your channel and I respect it to the ends of the earth. You think cloud storages could work for me?
@sla312 жыл бұрын
@@BKeane22 The problem with cloud storage is the amount of time you'd likely need to transfer that much data. It wouldn't be quick, and you'd likely not have time between flights on the same day to transfer it. If you have days between your flights, then yes, it would likely work.

Why u go alaska All the time
@sla312 жыл бұрын
Well, the simple answer is I don't haha. I've only been to Alaska three times total, and this was a flight to Seattle, Washington. Not Alaska. That said, the three trips I've taken to Alaska, were solely to get footage. I've only been to Alaska three times, but I've taken 50ish flights throughout Alaska. So, it gives the appearance I'm there a lot, but in reality, all the Alaska footage you see was filmed during only 3 trips.
