Come with us on our walk to one of Hamburg's most famous places, where there are always lots of ships on the water!
The jetties are a popular starting point for visitors and locals alike for harbour tours, taking the catamaran ferry to Helgoland or the HADAG ferries down the Elbe to Finkenwerder or to the musical theatres directly opposite. There are also many restaurants on the jetties serving Hamburg specialities such as delicious fish sandwiches or Labskaus.
In 1839, the first jetties were used by steamships as a landing stage. At that time, coal was unloaded and stored. Later, the large passenger ships travelled overseas from here.
