When it comes to games that were already released at the time the Xbox One X launched, you're always going to have friction between what is possible to do with the extra power, and the publisher's willingness to spend resources going back to an old game, which could be deep into it's sales tail at that point, and spend real time optimizing for it. I suspect this afflicted CoD Infinite Warfare, too, as Activision had a new CoD game to sell people at that point. The real test will be new releases going forward.

GPU isn't the problem, CPU is. The PS4, Pro, One and the X all have massively weak CPUs which means gaming engines need to be very light weight in order to reach decent frame rates on consoles. This means reduced viewing distances, simplified AI routines and simplified physics for the foreseeable future.

It's not a decision. If it was, any developer would obviously choose for their game to run at native 4K instead of pseudo 4K. The logical reasoning here is that their engine won't run the game on these systems at native 4K at 60 FPS. They wanted 60 FPS. They did what they had to do to get that. You can blame the developer. It is a racing game, not that demanding. A GTX 1070 could do 4K 60 in this if overclocked, opposed to other games where a 1080Ti is needed. As for 4K 60, the One X uses medium settings and you're comparing ultra settings on PC to medium settings on consoles. On the PC if one wanted to play a 4K medium settings, a GTX 1060 OC /1070/Vega 56/ could probably do 4K 60 in many titles, albeit still not all. A 1080/1080Ti is only needed for 4K 60 high to maxed out settings.

The point is with a mid gen refresh console most developers aren't going to bother spending all thier time and resources on 4K patches for these systems when they already have to make the game for the much weaker base versions. Some devs might be able to do it easily some won't. The 1X can easily do Destiny 2 60fps but they didn't and guess why. Because it has to be the same as the original Xbone. And the original Xbone cant run it at 60fps. So it's funny to me when people talk so big on the 1X without realizing that the original Xbone is its biggest limitation.

Destiny 2 doesn't run at 60 because of the crappy CPUs inside both consoles. The bottom end Intel G440 is better than both CPUs in these consoles and that CPU is a relatively old dual core. Think about it, the consoles are using AMD Jaguar which is 4 years old and AMD were far from the top of their game at that time to begin with.

There's so many games that struggle to even output at 1080p on the original Xbone. This is definitely a parity issue. If not, then why isn't it 60fps on all consoles? The base PS4 is slightly more powerful than the Xbone and on PS4Pro they could easily allow it to run at 1440p60 to stay in line with other consoles. But they don't. So why are they 30fps on all consoles?

Codemaster have lost all their tallented team, the optimisation is dreadfull, why did they even bother is sucks on both systems. The fact is it should look noticeably better on X but doesn't therefore they didn't make an effort either they favour ps4 pro or they didn't put the effort in and if thats the case you can bet that they didnt put the effort in for the pro either. On one hand, this is a kinda new engine for Codemasters, F12016 , 2017 and Dirt 4 , iirc are the only games on this engine so far. F1 2K16 was a crashing (software crashes) simulator , so the progress from 2016 to 2017 was really noticeable ,already on release. ON THE OTHER ONE , this XBONEX patch seems to be rushed (or flat our lazy) af.

I think checkerboarding is a fail in all cases. If a system can't push a game at actual 4K resolution, then just push it a lower res. It's not like it'll look like shit on a 4k TV if it's 1080p.

It varies from game to game. In some games i barely notice when it has tearing on the screen but in others the it seems like the whole screen gets cut in half

Sony is writing an apology in the form of actual games: Days Gone Death Stranding Detroit Become Human God of War Ghost of Tsushima FF7 Remake The Last of Us 2 Spiderman Shadow of the Colossus Shenmue 3 etc. Meanwhile on XBOX: Lucky's Tales. Minecraft 4k. Sadface XBOX One X is basically just an XBOX One. It basically makes no sense, and would make no difference if they released a newer faster XBOX tomorrow. In my opinion the devs have aimed for a consistent 60 rather than quality, given the softer shadows and missing assets in reflections. But it also makes me think: if the framerate is not being held back by the CPU, and the graphics capability is higher than the PS4 Pro, why have they opted for slightly lower detail on the Xbonx release? FatMonsterIsEatin the softer shadows are more true to life the shadows on the PS4 pro have hard lines that look like a PS3 game. forza 7 runs at 60fps locked at native 4K so the only reason this game isn't 4K on the one X has to do with lazy devs but with that said the one X is he best version of this game
