I live in Georgia and Ingles is definitely my favorite grocery store by far. Publix and Kroger are usually two big competitor's out here, but I don't care for Publix or Kroger. Also I really like the advantage rewards system.

I too was wondering what time of day you guys were shopping? So few shoppers! Thought maybe you were there about 2 am. Never been inside an Ingles grocery store. That's really some kind of awesome store. Thanks for sharing this, Tony. If I try watching at highest resolution, I spend more time waiting for short segments to load-up than I do actually watching. Have to take it back down to 1080 for the vid to play smoothly. Maybe youtube will upgrade their high-res playback capabilities before too long.

Great to hear from you Tom. It has to be a real bandwidth challenge to deliver that 4K vid. Most people don't realize it's a full 4 times the resolution of 1080p. Fun to watch if you have one of the TVs.

Been working at Ingles for over 14 years, I've worked in a few different stores of different sizes and volumes. You should find one of Thier newest stores and tour it. Set up quite differently, much more modern! Neat video regardless!

Reminds me of a smaller version of Martin's stores that we have here. We prefer to shop at Kroger though. When I worked for a marketing company I had to spend a few days in Burlington, NC making sure all of our merchandise was tagged in a new store that was opening. I can't remember what the store was called though.

Wasn't Food Lion or Lowes Foods was it Brian? I remember when Food Lion (used to be Food Town) started in North Carolina back in the 70s. They are still one of the major players in NC, but they aren't nearly as nice as Lowes or Ingles. We used to have Harris Teeters and BiLo here but those are fading away.
@BrianSterowski10 жыл бұрын
Tony Lee Glenn I just remembered that it was a Farmers Foods, I think they replaced a Harris Teeter or Farm Fresh that had closed down. I think the store is long gone by now though. We have Food Lions everywhere around here too.

Nice looking store Tony, we don't have one near us, Food Lion is pretty much the largest and most popular chain in our area. Walmart is a little further for us to drive...
@sebastianurbas76998 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing. I'm curious how such a relatively small grocery chain can stay competitive. They have just about 200 stores. With the exception of the entrance, the store doesn't look appealing. But they are still able to make a lot of profits. Do all Ingles grocery stores look like this? What will happen when a larger grocery chain will open more appealing stores in this area?
@thewipsportsfan7 жыл бұрын
They (ingles) compete with Publlix (generally known to be the best grocer in the Southeast) and Harris Teeter (Kroger)- two of the southeasts best grocers- in most of their trade areas in addition to Food Lion Walmart a growing number of Aldi's and the usual group of independents, so they are not the only game in town like the poster said, they aren't the lowest priced grocer in the market they must offer/ be known for high quality products that set them apart, they are a profitable company even in a tough industry in this rather challenging economy so they must be doing something right!

Tony I'm using Corel Video Studio X7 Ultimate (the latest version) and so far it looks like I can't change the frame rate when rendering the final production. It may be buried somewhere deep in settings where an advanced user might be able to figure it out but so far no luck for me. Or maybe in You Tube upload settings? Maybe I can do it in Go Pro Studio? I don't know yet but am planning a boat ride tomorrow to get some test footage in anticipation of upcoming fishing season, try to get some bugs like this worked out.

Great video Tony. I'm not a critic. I just know it looked great on my iPad Air. I remember when Bob Ingle was a manager for Colonial Food Stores. When Colonial started closing stores, Mr. Ingle bought one of their stores in West Asheville and re-opened it as Ingles. Later he bought another Colonial Store across town and called it Ingle's Too. The rest, as they say, is history. While we were living in Camden, SC he opened a new store in Lugoff where he offered milk at a ridiculously low price as a grand opening special. The food price police stepped in and had him arrested. It was on the front page of the local newspaper. Mr. Ingle is reported to have said, "You can't buy ads on the front page!" The public was not upset. Who can fault a store for trying to save customers money on an item as popular as milk? There no Ingles near Bluffton. However, we do have three large Publix in this small S.C. town. Keep up the good work.
@tonyleeglenn10 жыл бұрын
Norm this is an outstanding cool comment. Thanks for sharing this story. That's great to know about Bob. My wife and I love his stores. I've heard that Publix is really nice. I'll have to visit the ones in Charlotte sometime.

Ingles proudly states that they provide literally hundreds of meals to needy people, however, they don't tell you that they don't donate anything to local church and county food pantries. Our local Ingles store will not donate bread or baked goods to local food pantries, they'd rather dispose of the "almost outdated" breads and baked goods.

Nice store and video Tony. Publix is the big name around here and some of their new stores are evolving into the same format. I was wondering if you first had to ask permission to video inside of their store or if not did they question you about it? They might have thought you were a 'spy' for some of their competition LOL
@tonyleeglenn10 жыл бұрын
A number of employees saw me walking around with the GoPro and no one objected. Hopefully they'll appreciate the publicity and patronage. I like their stores and kind of wanted to boost their image. Never been in a Publix, but they are popping up around Charlotte. I'll have to visit one sometime. Spy . . . ha! If goofiness were a good cover for a spy then you could just call me 007!
@MonacoMike10 жыл бұрын
Tony Lee Glenn Ha Ha Yeah .... strange looks can be unnerving sometimes. I've thought about coming up with some sort of KZbin type logo to wear to show you are making a video to post on KZbin. Craft show venders don't really like you photographing their art and crafts for fear you're going to go home and copy it. I want to do some more craft shows and am looking at a way to get a 'foot in their booth' to make them more comfortable and open to the fact that they will be getting free publicity. I did a Craft Fair at Fort Christmas in December and felt a little uncomfortable at times getting close to their crafts, but then maybe that was just me. I may have to turn into a reporter and start interviewing them, but then that takes up a lot of time and video. Got to develop that right technique :-)

Tony Lee Glenn That's exactly what I was thinking watching this video. We are blessed with an abundance of food. I sometimes wonder how long people in impoverished nations could make the food last just in this one store.
@sebastianurbas76998 жыл бұрын
Every developed country has an abundance of food. The grocery store density in the U.S. is relatively low compared to other developed countries.
@sebastianurbas76998 жыл бұрын
Why do you think this? The store looks pretty outdated and rather plain. The entrance with the florals looks good, but the rest of the store? I would expect such stores in more impoverished areas. I would feel rather depressed if typical grocery stores in my area would look like this. But it's maybe just a different taste of design?
@thewipsportsfan7 жыл бұрын
+ Sebastian Urbas to some degree kind of agree with your observation, i ve personally found this to be the norm with most of the supermarkets in the southeast outside of Florida and Georgia. coming from the ultra competitive East Coast where there is a greater variety of stores and interior designs, (example the much-beloved Wegman's stores) the bulk more interesting than this one. I think that a store this size deserves something more pizazz-y in the décor department. I'm curious to where you hail from,Sebastian?

KZbin worked its "magic" and made what I'm sure is gorgeous 4K video look like a mushed up mess. The settings are only giving me optios for 360P and Auto and Auto simply says Auto (360p) with no other way to change it. What a shame and what a mess from KZbin!

***** You are absolutely right. I just watched it on my 4K TV and it was far better! No glitches and very smooth. Not sure it's any better than 1080P to be honest, but a direct comparison would be nice! But there was no muck in this one at all. Great job Tony!

I am confused it does not take much some times lol but if you watch the 4k videos that Go Pro the company posts those video's are incredible.Sorry not saying Your videos Are not Tony LOL Even on the 480p setting. But also if you select the 4k choice any of the videos even the Go Pro ones that Go Pro them selves post you can not watch them because it is so jerky and if it skips enough You Tube puts up a alert press here for reasons the video is jerky and they are blaming the internet provider. I assume Go Pro gets a special deal or they are paying for better streaming. I guess the bottom line we have to be thankful for You Tube period being a free service and all. Just seems a shame to have equipment that is awesome and we can not utilize it to its fullest at least on You Tube. I would guess as time goes by it will get better. BTW Nice Store reminds me of Whole Food stores we have In New York they have a lot of Locally grown produce all very fresh but it comes at a price but maybe for our body's sack price should not be a concern.
