i go grocery shopping daily for fresh milk , fruits and what i have to cook for the meal of that day or the next one. Instead if i have to stock more food on a monthly basis , but lately every 2 or 3 months because we are consuming less. Yes , in our supermarkets there's a lot of junk food and treats near the counter for the check out, but in no one there are free fruits or samples for kids

Thank you! 😍 I like how you talk with your lovely kid. In the middle east where I live, stores are mostly local and owned by individuals. Customers reach only a couple of items they want but most of items needed to be asked from the seller on the other side of the counter! . So we talk more in our stores than the US!😃. For junk food you asked you are right I have a lot too in my country stores but again a part of items are more local or hand made. I remember for example the fruit layers kind of a solid layer concentrated of fruits such as prune very tasty made at home by people to sell. Again, thank you and I try the words pronunciation you introduced.

I loved watching this lesson ❤ because it showed me how English is in the real world, all of us will encounter many challenges while having the process of learning anything new such as language. This is an undertaking I took on a long time ago and I still enjoy it by consuming lots of interesting content I'm keen on in English. This is never going to be boring owing to my strong preference and love for English, no matter how challenging may be along the way in this fast-paced world. Thank you so much for bringing me this amazing English lesson at an American grocery store, Vanessa 🥰.

Hi Vanessa! It's so lovely to see you and your family in daily life, you are so careful and kind in your videos :) I'm a Brazilian, currently living in Utah and I learn a lot from your videos, now I am more confident to talk with natives and, also, do my groceries (when I arrived, eight months ago, I was afraid to speak to anyone). In Brazil, we also have the same junk food at the checkout, but here I feel that it's more! I try to avoid them too. Thank you for sharing this video, it's really helpful!

For answering your question, I go grocery shopping twice a week and there are a lot of snacks and junk food items at the checkout counter in all the grocery stores here too. Vanessa, this is the first time I watch a video where grocery shopping is done in real-time, from the time someone walks into the store until they leave. I can see the care and love with which you make your videos. In Mexico, we also have the same junk food at checkout counters. Kudos to the checkout lady for allowing you to film the final step of your purchases. Yes, I learned new things in this video thanks to the fact that it is explained in real-time. No wonder this video has so many hits in such a short time. God bless you and your family, especially during these hard times we are going through.

Thanks Vanessa, this is such a helpful video. It not only helps me to review my English vocabularies, but also helps me other people to have a general knowledge about how a grocery store looks like in America. It’s pretty much the same to grocery stores in Australia (I used to study & live in Australia for 10 years) except the free fruit for Kids. Its amazing!! We dont have free fruit in Australia supermarkets, I believe I never found this promotion there😊 but its ok, no complaints. It’s so exciting to get to know about this. I know all the vocabularies that are in your video but since I was back to my home country for good a year ago, I haven’t had many chances to speak English. My home country is Vietnam. Even though there are quite many foreigners in VN but if we want to speak English , we gotta work for some foreign companies. I’m currently not working due to some family issues. I feel like I’m dying if I dont hear English or speak English😅 so I always find something about English to watch everyday such as movies, songs, English channels on youtube, etc.. but I cant find anyone to practice speaking English with me. Sometimes I just talk to myself to practice English 😆… I dont like learning vocabs from books cos Its kind of boring. Somehow your video just poped up when I was looking for something to watch today 😊 . I would subscribe your channel. I’m looking forward to see more videos from you😊

Vanessa - I am an English teacher in Mexico and have just discovered your videos. I have a student who is trying to beef up his English learning and I will be sending him your videos as "required watching". The three most valuable things are that 1. you speak slowly with individual words (not contractions and "attached language" which occurs in movies and normal speaking (areyougonnagotatthastore?) and 2. that you post the vocabulary focus words on the screen and 3. the spoken narration is captioned. Invaluable! Thanks again for sharing your content!

We also have in France tons of junky food such as candies, chewing gums etc...at the check out counter. We have magazines as well (about cooking, DIY, TV programs...). So many words to remember in this video, hopefully I'll be able to remember half of it 😂 Your young son is so cute! Have a nice day and keep making great videos ! 😉 Nathalie

Hi Vanessa! Thank you for sharing a glimpse of your everyday life with us! We also have some unhealthy items near the check-out like sweets and tobacco. I usually go to the grocery store once a week that way I save some time. I have heard that one word meaning a place you can get alcohol is called off-license. Do you use that word also regularly?

Every once a month I and my husband get on to the grocery store to buy some important groceries. We tend to go through each aisle and section in the store so we won't miss out on any products we need to buy. We choose to use plastic bags to put in the items and reuse them as trash bags in our house. It's a nice pastime and bonding with my husband to walk around inside the grocery store and see new items and buy delicious food to taste. 😍👩‍❤️‍💋‍👨🛒🍶🥚🧀🍞🍗🥩🥬🍆🍌🍐🥬

I would like to thank the teacher for giving us such a useful lesson. I am always excited to learn the vocabulary of everyday life. I would like to add about the grocery stores in Ukraine. We do have simillar check out here but in most shops sweets are waiting for us there. Having grocery with my younger brother is pretty much predictable for me because i know that he always begs for some chewing gum at the check out.

Thank you, dear teacher Vanessa for your interesting lesson 🌺🌺🌺 that there's no any chance "to space out" of your video 😅 and yes, Vanessa, you're right about junk food that are waiting for us at the checkout 😀, we have the same in our stores or malls too. I get it as a business trick 😃

Yes, in most of the US, masks aren't required, and you can even see the "State of the Union Address" (a speech) by the president Joe Biden, no one was wearing a mask. It's pretty common.

@@SpeakEnglishWithVanessa not all of them, I watched president’s speech , some senators were masked up. Here in NY it is still required for the schools and my university will keep it mandatory till the end of March . I wear it to protect myself, just was worried about you🤦‍♀️

It is a pretty helpful video for me. I usually go to the grocery stores around 2-3 times a week because I stopped by 3 kinds of stores such as the Korean grocery store, Costco, and Kroger. There are different kinds of items they have. Anyway, next time I am going to try to get some ham at the deli section like you taught. Thank you
