-Welcome to Koh Mak, Koh Kham and A&A Travelling. Koh Mak is part of the Mu Koh Chang Marine National Park in eastern Thailand, around 40 km from the Trat coast and 20 km south of Koh Chang. This paradise is still relatively unknown. If you are looking for a relaxing holiday and long deserted beaches, then you came to the right place.
The island covers an area of about 16 square km, a little too big for walking around, but easy for biking. Many foreigners drive scooters around the island, and this is definitely one of the easiest and safest islands to drive. There is not much traffic here, due to the fact that there isn`t a vehicle
ferry to the island.
Taxis charge pretty much around 50 Thb/person regardless of where you want to go.
There are two small villages on the island. Baan Ao Nid on the southeastern coast is home to 50 families, the island`s school, temple and clinic. Ban Lae Som is the second one and is located in the northwest corner of the island.
Rubber plantations are very common on the island. Rubber has become the most economically significant plant of Thailand after rice.
WHAT TO DO IN KOH MAK?
-Visit the beautiful Koh Kham Island
This beautiful small island is privately owned, it is accessible by boat and you will have to pay an entrance fee of 200 thb. The island measures only 300 from north to south and 200 meters from east to west.
From Prompakdee Koh Mak Resort located on Ao Suan Yai Beach, you can rent a boat for 500 thb incl. the 200 thb entrance fee.
-Visit Koh Kradat the Deer Island
This is a place i definitely recommend visiting, an island packed with deers it`s unique.
From Laem Son Beach there`s usually a boatman with a longtail waiting for you. If not, ask at the small-drinks stall and they will arrange one.
We went there three years ago from Cinnamon Art Resort and we paid 250 thb per person incl. the entry fee.
-Explore the beaches
Ao Suan Yai Beach
Located on the northwest coast of Koh Mak facing Koh Chang, is one of Koh Mak`s two main beaches stretching for around two km.
Ao Kao Beach
This is the most developed and popular beach on the island stretching for 5 km. This is our favourite sunset place with great views of Koh Rayang Nok and Koh Rayang Nai.
Laem Son Beach
In this remote place you will find and empty sand beach with crystal clear waters, surrounded by Laem Son Trees which give the area its name. From here you can take a fishing boat to the interesting Koh Kradat Island which is kown for being the Deer Island. We definitely recommend it.
Ao Tann Beach
This small beach is located on the northeast of the island, where you will find one of our favourite places, The Cinnamon Scenic Boardwalk located just outside The Cinnamon Art Resort.
Ao Prao Beach
Is regarded as one of the best beaches on the island with only one resort, the luxury Mira Montra Beach Front Resort.
-Scuba Diving and Snorkeling
The Mu Koh Chang National Park which Koh Mak is part of, consists of 52 islands off the coast of Trat Province with many scuba diving spots to explore.
Koh Make Divers and BB Divers are two scuba diving shopps located in Ao Kao Beach area.
Good spots for snorkeling around koh Mak are: Koh Pi, Coco Cape Pier and Ao Pong beach. You can reach Koh Pi easily by renting a Kayak.
