Amazing historical street. Thank you for the wonderful video. Any reason why so many of the buildings is abandoned? And the very quite street on a weekend? Is it still due to pandemic lockdown?

Hi Bill, thanks for watching mate 🙏🏽 Not sure but my educated guess is that many young generations of these fishermen’s families went to bigger cities and some just don’t have kids. I can tell you that in the last 2/3 years or so it’s impressive how many houses were sold and renovated. The lifestyle quality of life here is amazing. I did it myself and moved from Lisbon to one of these amazing houses 🤗 Despite what it seems by the time I did this walk, this is still a very vibrant and busy streets (more people than cars) because the street commerce is still much appreciated here because of the better quality compared with the malls and the big shops. A big hug mate

@@TheABCDEFam Hi Bill I will try to give you my prospect on it as emigration on the mid 1900 Portuguese left Portugal looking for a better jobs else were, You will find Portuguese emigrants through out the world almost in every country. That left Portugal with many homes with no one leaving in it for many years, and mother nature takes over. I have notice in the last decade a lot of homes been renovated and emigration as picked up and people from around the world are emigrating to Portugal now. Also the Canadians and USA snowbirds are finding Portugal as a great get way for the winter months at a more reasonable cost compared to South Florida, Arizona, Texas. My parents left Portugal in 1972 with 3 children, I was the only one that as returned and have a home in Portugal for our retirement years.
