Why are the little "doodle-bug" (my word) floats so sedate? I remember when they used to come out and spin like dervishes. Did a guest get hit, or a float fall over? The kids used to love how they'd spin and then stop on a dime looking like they were looking right at you. Now they look like they're operated by the people who created the barely-bumping bumper cars at the now defunct Bug's Land in DCA.. The spinning added a level of kinetic energy that's sort of missing in the current incarnation.

I heard Disney only brought this back for summer 2019 to spur attendance due to the devastating failure of Star Wars land.

First off, the notion that Star Wars Land was a failure is a conspiracy theory. They knew that wouldn’t be at full strength without Rise, and the crowds reflected that. But it was in no means a failure. Locals are the main visitors to Disneyland, and they all came back more than once to experience Star Wars Land. MSEP was to get them a third time.
