I wonder how many trains go through here a day.
@TheGeorgiaRoad8 ай бұрын
Not a lot. NS 191 and 192 daily. P70 local daily. Not much else though NS 955 OCS came through here last week for the Masters.

Haven't had that d**n train ruin my morning or afternoon commute for 5 years now! Nothing worse than the opposite direction When the train stops twice as the switches are thrown, and the New! Improved!! Switches never seemed to eliminate that, either.

From my observations, there are fewer but longer trains. They are less frequent, but often longer than the yards, so they hang out. This negates much of the benefit of the remote switches. The fact the City is so old and the rail infrastructure is along the streets as they were originally in the 1850s, amplifies the conflict with traffic. They are so slow, too for safety reasons. Great for railfanning, but not so much for everyone else. Thank you for watching.

Awesome video, i was wanting to know is there any way to follow the train once it crosses the bridge?
@TheGeorgiaRoad Жыл бұрын
Thank you. Yes, once it gets closer to Bath, SC. I have 3 videos coming up soon from this route heading towards Columbia.

Dumb question- IS this ex- Central of Georgia,out of Atlanta,or Southern?? And definitely,the railroad was there before the town!! And that yardmaster,got every empty out after the weekend!! Thank you 😇 😊!
@TheGeorgiaRoad Жыл бұрын
Not dumb. In Georgia, it is ex-Central of Georgia connecting to Savannah and Macon via Millen. In SC, it follows the 1830s route to Charleston for several miles before heading to Columbia. Augusta was here well before the railroad. It was established around 1736. Thanks for watching.

The railroad was there before the town? You need to read the historical marker on Reynolds St. down near St Pauls Church at the site of the old fort if you think that. Declaration of Independence signers were born in Augusta, and even more buried there.
