🚆 4K Night cab ride on the last tilting train (Switzerland | IC5 Biel/Bienne - Zurich)

The summer days are long and hot, so why don't you join me on a night ride to cool down a bit? Welcome aboard the Intercity tilting train! We are in Biel/Bienne on the shores of Lake Biel and ready to go. This is the last connection to Zurich for the day, therefore it does not follow the usual schedule for the line, which means that a few extra stops are squeezed in. This is the normal procedure for the first and last train of the day on many lines, since it wouldn't make sense to drive past some places, when this last connection may be used instead.
You can clearly see the tilting motion in curves. The idea behind tilting trains is to allow for faster cornering speeds than regular trains. This reduces travel time without the need to build new high-speed lines or heavily modifying existing tracks. Just compare a regular train to a car and a tilting train to a motorbike. Cornering fast in a car is possible, but wears the tires faster, is more dangerous than ordinary driving and the lateral forces are unpleasant to the passengers. On a motorbike, it is normal to lay into curves, which results in a little bit more pressure into the direction of seating, instead of lateral forces. Sit back and enjoy the ride!

Very clear pictures for a night run. This is obviously the time of day to see Swiss internal freight traffic.and track maintenance. The box van rules on this route, not a ROLA to be seen.(on this vid.)

I remember when these were first put in service which it seems weren’t very popular according to some passengers. As I used to ride a motorcycle all around the country here in United States leaning into turns were the norm riding Skyline drive, through the Appalachian mountains, the Catskills, Frand Tetons, Rocky Mountains so tilt trains most likely wouldn’t bother me. Were they all decommissioned?

Lokführer in der Schweiz arbeiten auf einem bestimmten Depot und fahren auch nur Strecken ab diesem sowie nur in Regionen in denen sie die lokale Sprache (deutsch, farnzösisch, italienisch) auf einem minimalen Niveau beherrschen. Die Tatsache, dass bisher keine Strecken westlich von Bern gezeigt wurden, deuten darauf hin, dass diese sich gar nicht im "Repertoire" befinden (ausgehend von der Annahme, dass alle Videos von einer Person aufgenommen wurden).
