4K Photo Mode on the Panasonic Lumix FZ80/82 Camera

Another video answer to a question raised in the comments section where I felt that a video response would be better.
It's not a perfect edit however I hope you can get the basic idea of what is needed to capture and edit the files in the camera

It certainly has, plus it has automatic panning and zooming features using a cropped frame. All good fun effects for your electronic photo album.

Graham, I saved and studied all of your previous videos on the use of the FZ 80/82 and they were a great help!! Thank you! I'm ready to move on to more complicated work with this camera, and wonder if you have a video on how to use the in-camera focus stacking? Thanks.. I used this at a clay shoot and caught some great images of the shot leaving the shotgun, and breaking the clay. Any way to get a movie of a selected part of the footage?

FINALLY, a video that fully explains the 4K photo functions on my Lumix! Thank you. I used this feature today to record the start of a couple of foot races. QUESTION: Early in the video, you mentioned talking about how to work with the video file from a computer instead of directly on the camera. But you didn't cover how to, unless I missed it. I find it hard to determine which is the best shot from the tiny camera screen, especially when trying to assess the best frame to capture when there is a ton of detail in the frame (like at the start of a race), so if there is a way to do this from the computer, at the same resolution, that would be ideal. Is it possible?

Yes, somehow this slipped off the radar on this one. There are a number of ways to extract the exact frame from the MP4 file. If you have a video editor you can use that to scroll through and then grab the still frame. If you have a windows PC the program photofunstudio which comes as a download with the camera gives a very easy way to do it. The Quicktime program for windows or MAC also allows you to extract a still image from the MP4. I might make a supplementary program on this now that you ave prompted it.

@@GrahamHoughton12 based on your info here, I did a little research on photofunstudio. Most people feel that it's of little use for anything other than exactly what you are suggesting - extracting images from 4K videos - and so I downloaded it, used it, and it worked brilliantly, giving me the desired ability to see the images full-screen on my computer monitor before making my selection of stills. Graham, this is a very useful video, much more understandable than the manufacturer's instructions. However I have a G9 which has a 6k photo mode. I would like to extract still images on a Windows 10 PC. Have you encountered software that will enable that?

When I record in 4K the quality becomes worse than when I record the normal way

Taking a 4K burst is a pre-requisite to using the Sequential Composition feature available in some Lumix models. One of them is the GX9 which I bought because it had this function. Presumably you can take a 4K burst in a better camera, say the GH5 or the G9, and transfer the card to the GX9 to do the Sequential Composition? The problem with my GX9 is that the viewfinder is very poor compared to that in my G9.

I haven't tried this however the file structure is the same so the software in the camera should recognise it.

I did shoot the patriotic flyover with the FZ80 in 4K burst mode. But my son was at the control and didn't zoom in the lens. We did get a few decent images though. But because of the lowered megapixel count I captured better images with my FZ200 at the same shoot.

Hi. During the video at 2:53 is printed on the screen that a class 3 sd card should be used. Is that specific card that only would get the job done or any other will work? Thanks.

So there is Burst mode, and also 4K Burst mode. Is there a difference in resolution? I feel like 4k burst has lower resolution, am I mistaken? Which one should we use if we don't need to change the dimensions of the photo to 16:9 etc? Thanks!
