At the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Natural Park is Órgiva, the capital of the Alpujarra region.
With a documented history dating from 11th century, formerly a mining village (silver and lead), Órgiva is now rich in the number of walking trails that start from here.
The village is well known for its free spirit visitors and locals, that embrace the beautiful hippie lifestyle and along its streets you will hear a lot of foreign languages, as there are more than 60 different nationalities registered here.
