Let's hope that some of the cars will be saved for historic record. I was there on day one in 1972. I stood four feet away from San Francisco Mayor Joseph Alioto when he cut the ribbon for BART. I rode on the inaugural run. I filmed the first day crowds and trains on color movie film. I traveled 3,000 miles to be there. I live a block from the Atlantic Ocean in New Jersey. The San Francisco Examiner wrote an article about me with my photo. That newspaper clipping is a prize in my collection.

Wow, I’ve been wanting to connect to people with old videos of San Francisco and it’s transit system! Wish I’d have the privilege to see that film of yours. Thank you for stopping by. Wish you well.

It's a very fitting sendoff that the train got filled with Giants fans on its last run.

Would've been more so if it was filled with A's fans.

Awwwww this is cute. BART has been getting so much undeserved (and some deserved) criticism lately that it's great to see people being excited about our hard-working subway in the Bay! This is a proper sendoff. Looking forward to BART's next, even better chapter of service! 🎉🎉🎉

I’m sooo happy that I made it to the send off and am able to share the experience with all of you. I was feeling sick earlier that day I thought I’d miss it.

for some reason I still see lots of legacy fleets running even though they said two consists would run so the legacy fleet is probably still common@@caliwalks

BART announced that they will have a final run & retirement ceremony next year for the Legacy Cars. It was even announced by BART on the final REGULARLY SCHEDULED run of the Legacy Cars. They are only using them for extra capacity & backup when available.@@gerghhhttg2913

Fittingly enough, the lead ROHR A Car was numbered 1272, "72" refers to the year BART started operations & the year the Legacy Cars began operations.

What are the differences between the trains that are used today and the legacy fleet that they had? I am blind, and I have never come across any of those trains. I am just now barely learning the BART system.
