@@sportbikepilot That would be me with the camera + phone setup, lol. Visiting the lazy bench guy from out of town. We were there to get a video of Surfliner coming through at 90 mph. Had no idea the test train was out there.

It's kind of mandatory for Alstom CEM Cab cars to always wear a K5CA-LS And that the railroads that own em can't replace the horn

but why do the cab cars have 3 digit numbers and the regular cars have 5 digit numbers when the rest of the coaster fleet has 4 digit fleet numbers. I thought the cab cars were supposed to continue the 2300 series the rest of the cab cars have. And why start in the 420s instead the 400s?

@@GamingRailfanner Pretty sure the horn is replaceable by shop crews. IIRC there’s a Sounder MP40 that got a replacement K5LA but can’t remember the number to the top of my head…

The new cab cars are only for fleet expansion. Only 3 of them were bought compared to the 10 old cab cars. The old cab cars will still be running for many years to come.
