[4K SEOUL] Is there a neighborhood like this in Korea? Walk through the old slums of Seoul

Bokwang-dong is a famous slum in Seoul. The living conditions are rather poor. Villas and multi-family houses are scattered on the ridge, and there are generally many old houses. Currently, it is tied together as Hannam New Town and a redevelopment plan has been established. When all Hannam New Towns are built, the Bogwang-dong area will be transformed into a luxury housing site as much as Hannam-dong. It shows the old Bogwang-dong before the redevelopment began.

Many big cities worldwide have areas like this which are normally not shown. I wonder what will happen to the people who currently live in this neighbourhood. Once the luxury development arrives, I doubt they will be able to afford any of the properties. This gentrification happens all the time, but the local people are not the ones who benefit or make money from the new housing. They just get pushed into other areas like this further away. Thank you for uploading this. I'm sure you got plenty of exercise going up and down the hills. 😊

It's scary if you are living inside the cemetery,under the bridge or beside the estero or canal .
