Hey CONGRATS 4k subs today
@ChasingSnow11 ай бұрын
Thanks, though I was expecting 5k subs. Up until a few days ago, the channel was growing about 500% on last year, now it has dropped to 300% but the number of subscribers is way down. I'm getting up to 30 a day now whereas this time last year I was getting up to 80 a day. I need to get lucky with the algorithm and have a few videos go viral...

Another beautiful day and you are definitely getting better on the bumps. On that headwall on Kamikaze I thought you and that other skier were about to join in a yard sale.
@ChasingSnow11 ай бұрын
That skier was a little unpredictable, so being a little cautious :-)

Love La Plagne. Kamikaze was epic. The sunny side is probably my favourite! Other highlights was Sources and the runs coming off the new Glacier gondola. Beginners however beware. No green runs and there is huge variation in the blues; a mix of easy through to borderline red i.e some of them could terrify you if you've just come from the nursery slopes. (Mira in particular)

Thanks for the useful info, I've come across some difficult parts on some blues, where I've hit the hilly parts a bit too fast and then struggled to keep control, but all good in the end...

Thanks for showing what Bosses looks like, to steep for me for now. Are you going to go down Mira, then Petite rochette and Geisha?
@ChasingSnow11 ай бұрын
Geisha was closed I think but the others I should do... plenty more content to come...

Can I ask a question? I see at 1:05 the sign says slope closed, obviously people have been skiing down it. What happens if people ignore that sign? Will the piste patrol say anything if they see it? By the way what super clear blue skies, fingers crossed we get them from 13th Jan :)

In Europe it's generally fine to ski a closed piste but it is at your own risk and if anything happens, it's probably not covered by insurance. Sometimes if it is a real danger, like a high avalanche risk, someone is usually standing in front of the closed area redirecting people away....
@elho00111 ай бұрын
I do not recall ever seeing someone stand there unless they are just in the process of closing it off. Thus, if you do not actually know what the actual risk in that spot at that time is, better not assume it being low just because there is no one shouting at you nor a fence.

@@elho001 Hi thanks for your comment. I am an engineer by trade and am constantly surrounded by warning/safety signs and basically closed/stop to me means exactly that. It seems in this instance it says STOP if you want to...... maybe all ski resorts are different.
@elho00111 ай бұрын
Mentalities in different regions are sure different and things also change over time (back in the days there typically were no closed signs or fences, just the red light on the big ski map at the gondola). At times the reason for closure may not be danger to the skier/rider, but e.g. to the slope for lack of snow, and while they will not take legal action against you, they will sure not be happy about people ignoring it. Other times it seems there is no reason other than lazyness or cutting costs, so I very well understand the frustration, when you seem the only one on the mountain not straight out ignoring it, but trying to find out what the deal is. But I have also seen hordes of tourists, including families of which even the best skiier among them did not manage to not tumble in flat nice powder, traversing right below some windloaded ridge already showing some cracks in the snow on a high avalanche risk day. 🤦 And that is the kind of thing I think of, when saying "better really know better". 🙂 (I am not a grumpy old man and happily ignore certain rules, but I am neither a local nor an avalanche expert and do want to still be alife and having fun on the mountains once I actually am a grumpy old man. 😂)

Meanwhile, in the US, closed means *CLOSED*

Looks awesome, how do you get the info on the video? Speed and altitude?
@ChasingSnow11 ай бұрын
GPS data comes from the GoPro and then I use Virb Edit for the gauges....

Nice to see the black and red run down there as well. 👍 But why is it that your and most other's videos from La Plagne seem to be predominantly showing this part of the mountain that is just that tiny bit in the upper right of the map? The rest of the resort must have worthwile slopes, too, I'd hope? Just because its more sunny? 🤔
@ChasingSnow11 ай бұрын
That's just where I started, I have many more videos to come of the rest...

@@ChasingSnow Great, looking forward to it! 👍 Almost as much as my own first visit to the Paradiski area that I am in the process of planning for somewhere January/February before the french school holidays begin. 😄
