I am sorry to tell your that you visited Yu Yuen commercial complex but not the garden itself. The garden is a real personal residence of an officer hundread years ago and it is very picturesque, full of the oriental style and poetic. You missed the very famous spot of Shanghai. Yu Yuen by itself is one of the most famous garden of ancient China.

unbelievable. you went all the way to the yuyuan aka yu garden, strolled the commercial lots, even went to the fake temple (which requires a ticket) but you didn't actually go into the garden itself which all these commercial activities built around to take advantage of. bro, you need better guides
