Wonderful to see the old High Street of Brentwood. I lived there as a teenager in the late 70s & early 80s on Crescent Road near the railway station. My mother was raised in Hutton, Essex. I was there this past September for the first time in several years and really enjoyed my stay. The climate is much more tolerable than where I live in the Southwest of the US. I will be back.

In 1971 I visited Brentwood, found a cute local girl and visited over the summer. My visits came to an abrupt unfortunately. Doesn’t look to have changed much, thanks for provoking some fond memories.

Thanks for sharing the video , i used to live and work in Brentwood Martin McColls during 2011-2013 during my Masters days, Some of the places and even shops exactly stands there.. Brentwood is really a classic place ..loved it and do miss it

Thank you for posting this. I lived in and around Brentwood for 40 plus years until I moved to Canada in 2004. I really miss Brentwood and I wish that I could move back.

Brentwood has declined hugely over the last decade or so. Drugs and anti social behavior especially near the town Centre area is on the rise. Plus many areas in dire need of refurbishment

Pleased I got out after 27 years in 1983, now got almost 40 years living in London, think the town is turning in another Romford with its problems, the dirty man of Essex, a ghetto at night, wouldn’t like to be in Brentwood High Street after dark.

Will be suing the council for effecting my mental health lately always have it in for me plus they owe me 800 pounds from 2010 threating me to pay a unpaid benefit that wasn't mine it was the same name as me with a Basildon address , yep not doing their job properly

Where are all the people ? I lived there from 1944 to 1978 and it was always busy. The shops now look like crap, compared what was there. i don't think that I will be in a rush back to visit it now. I moved away in 1978 when I got married, bloody glad that I did.

Excellent video. There's been tonnes of talk on one of the FB groups I'm in about the way Brentwood has been governed by Alex Burghart over the past few years and I have to say watching your video from even a year ago - the difference is VERY noticeable. There has been a large influx of foreign people into Brentwood esspecially over the last year. I think a lot of people previously from South London were sent over to the new build flats where the old Ford plant used to be. It's a shame what is happening to Brentwood; sitting outside of the M25 people set up home there for a reason. Alas, the powers to be simply do not care. A hell of a lot of people, Alex Burghart included, should be ashamed.

A rough area, steadily got worst due to nightclubs and other violence over the years, as it no longer had any cinemas, high streets a disgrace with its chain stores and that drab Baytree Centre.
