[4K] Walking through Western Germany - Wuppertal City Tour on a Cloudy Day

Here I am walking through western Germany in Wuppertal. This 2020 city tour in Wuppertal on a cloudy and cold winter day offers a great way to enjoy Wuppertal's (Western Germany) beautiful city ambience during the late afternoon hours. I am starting at the newly built Hauptbahnhof (Main train station), and then taking a quick stroll through the shopping street and passing a few beautiful buildings. I hope you can relax and enjoy this walk. I have also shot another video where I took a ride in Wuppertal's public Schwebebahn (Monorail).

Wuppertal is the city I was born in and where I lived for 31 years. I'm 11 years away now and miss a lot about it! Sad to see that many of the old shops I used to shop at no longer exist.

The Schwebebahn used to be less smooth back then when I took it for the first time 12 years ago. I wish could go back in time to film it 😂

Yes we have new trains since 3 years. The main station is new too. I think you will remember it 12 years ago. It was really ugly.

Jan Thranberend Yes, the train station back then was horrible, and what I remember was there was an 1 Euro Döner, which some people I know from Wuppertal nicknamed “Rattendöner”, so hilarious.

Thanks for this video. Wuppertal is really amazing. One of the most underrated city in Europe. This city was the founder of industrialisation in Europe. One of the most rich an innovative city in the German Kaiserreich. Bigger as Dusseldorf or Essen or Dortmund. Still today the city with the biggest green areas and the biggest area of villages quarters in Germany. And an amazing culture scene. Many records conning from Barmen and Elberfeld. CNN awarded Wuppertal as one of the most interesting places to visit in the world in 2020.!

Thanks again for walking with me here! :) Yea, Wuppertal is famous for Pina Bausch and also the public transportation Schwebebahn(Monorail), which I filmed separately. Also, for people who have never been there, the main station used to be totally different to what it is now. I was actually mind blown on how much it changed. Wish I could have filmed it last time when I went there (around 2010), it’s really shocking. You should take a look at the old station on KZbin(search for Wuppertal Hauptbahnhof), you won’t believe your eyes.

Yea, it was very dark, had a long tunnel full of graffiti before. They somehow got rid of the whole existing structure and made it such a beautiful, nicely structured station now. Unbelievable..

OH MEIN GOTT! Was ist passiert? Ich glaube mein Kopf explodiert gleich! Als ich das letzte Mal am Wuppertaler Hauptbahnhof war, da sah das noch ganz anders aus. Aber vollkommen anders. Ich erkenne den Hauptbahnhof überhaupt nicht wieder. Und wo kommt der Primark auf einmal her? Das ist ganz neu für mich. Wann ist das alles passiert? Wann war ich denn zuletzt da? Das Café Extrablatt bei 7:48 rechts im Bild wo ich mich mal zum Brunch mit Freunden getriffen habe gibt es aber noch. :) Das war... 2009 oder 2010

Hahaha 😂 das war bei mir genauso! Das letzte Mal als ich dort war ist bestimmt schon mindestens 10 Jahre her gewesen und da sah der Bahnhof sehr sehr heruntergekommen, grau, vollgesprayt aus. Der jetzige Bahnhof hat mich wirklich umgehauen! 😂 einfach der Wahnsinn! habe noch ein zweites Wuppertal Video bei dem ich im Bahnhof noch eine kurze Runde drehe. Das mit dem Primark hat mich auch verwundert. Ich glaube es ist alles in den letzten paar Jahren entstanden. Bei mir war das letzte mal 2007 glaube ich, an Weihnachten 🎄

@@JapanPotato Ich weiß ganz sicher, dass ich 2014 noch einmal in Wuppertal war, im Frühjahr, aber nur in Vohwinkel, ich glaube wir sind nicht bis zum Hauptbahnhof gefahren damals.

Das wurde alles in den letzten 5-10 Jahren umgebaut. Es wurde viel Zeit und Geld investiert und es hat sich gelohnt. So sieht unser Portal zur Stadt endlich mal gut aus, Im Gegensatz zu der alten Unterführung.

I haven’t been to Toelleturm but I’ll visit NRW in a month or so again and will definitely do another Wuppertal video, where I’ll check out the Toelleturm. @@JapanPotato yes, I was thinking of Luisenviertel, mainly the back part of it. We don't really have a lot of old buildings left, most of our town was bombed during the war. I forgot, there is one part of Wuppertal that is worth seeing. Relativ ordentliche Präsentation der Wuppertaler (Elberfeld) City. Aber: Alles wäre allerdings noch deutlich besser gewesen, wenn die Lichtverhältnisse gestimmt hätten. Besser noch, ein sonniger Sommertag. Und zu einem Video-Spaziergang durch die Wuppertaler City gehört auch das Luisenviertel mit dem Laurentiusplatz und der dortigen Basilika. Stattdessen wenig attraktive Bilder z.B. vom Gemüsehändler Spillmann am Kirchplatz.

Everywhere. Many germans out there with different immigration backgrounds. Oftentimes 2nd or 3rd generation.

Where is your education... In Germany we have a citizin-based approach that defines who is German and who not. Mostly you can apply for citizinship after 8 years of working here. If you are born in Germany you get automatically German citizinship. If your parents are foreigners you get two citizinships of which you have to renounce one as an adult. I wonder: What's the purpose of your comment? Seed hostility? Values like decency and dilligence are important and they appear independently from skin colour.

The care taker Nils H who killed over 100 elderly was German himself and will stay German even if we like him to be sent on Mars. I agree with you that the law must apply in full extent to everybody no matter which background. In that respect criminal justice tends to be too soft and incoherent in Germany.
