He is shouty but doesn't make sense. He is saying that when the Torah says rested that it somehow implies Gd is limited and therefore means Torah is corrupt. Reality is I think Shamsi is limiting the term rest. Like mentioned in other comments here if we take the English word "rest" we use it in music notation or when a train comes to a "rest" it means it is stationery. It does not mean the musician needs to take a break because he is tired or that a train has necessarily run out of fuel or overheated so needs a rest. Too clever by halfs and not intellectually honest is what I say about Shamsi.

@@redkakkarot So the common English translation of the hebrew word וַיָּ֖נַח (vi-yo-nach) is "and he rested". Where did you see the word "refresh" either in the hebrew text or translation? The word "nach" has many many layers of meaning but lets get the basics right first.
@redkakkarot
@redkakkarot 2 жыл бұрын
@@manchester-qj9gp my mistake I doubled checked there's no refreshed, but certainly rest in the translation is not befitting for an Omnipotent being who does not require Rest, Resting is a form of deficiency human needs rest because humans gets tired. While The Most High does not.
@manchester-qj9gp
@manchester-qj9gp 2 жыл бұрын
@@redkakkarot So as I alluded to how you apply the word "rest" (which again is a translation from the original Hebrew) needs to be taken in context. Rest in the English language does typically imply the need for recuperation I grant you but as I have also demonstrated can also mean simply to stop what you are doing. The original Hebrew word vi-yo-nach has the same root meaning as comfort or tranquility. In addition, typically the word is translated as rest because Jews were commanded to keep the 7th day holy in which we also rest...rest from "melacha" which is a specific category of creative work. In a nutshell you have to be engrossed in the context and culture of the Torah to fully appreciate that no word is a mistake and has layers of meaning. A word can have what are called root letters which give extra meaning to a word for example. No disrespect but people trying to understand Torah with a translation are getting a 2D copy of what is being said. Reading and having a greater understanding of Hebrew along with understanding of the root of words and gematria and indeed in reference to oral traditions get the full 3D understanding.

Moses was tan, brown, or bronze colored but he was definitely not pitch black because his sister discriminated against an Ethiopian black women who was Moses wife and definitely much darker than the Egyptians since Moses, Aaron and his sister were always mistaken for Egyptians who were obviously much lighter than Ethiopians of really dark color. Some people say that Moses skin color matched the Egyptians but that he was not necessarily genetically Egyptian either but they were both of near resembling skin color.

Moses wasn't black. Nor was he white. The Arabs and the Israelites had a similar skin colour before the Israelites were scattered across the earth and punished. Now they're mostly white. So Moses was mostly likely a darker shade of brown, but not black.

@@istagfar7705 You don’t know what you’re talking about. Musa AS (Moses) is described with the word ‘Adam’, meaning ‘Black’. Claiming the Israelites weren’t/aren’t black should not even be taken seriously. 30:30 (‘Job’) אִיּוֹב “My skin is black upon me, and my bones are burned with heat”. 4:8 (‘Lamentations’) אֵיכָה “Their visage is blacker than a coal; they are not known in the streets: their skin cleaveth to their bones; it is withered, it is become like a stick”. 14:2 (‘Jeremiah’) ספר יִרְמְיָהוּ “Judah mourneth, and the gates thereof languish; they are black unto the ground; and the cry of Jerusalem is gone up”. Do you want more? The Israelites were/are Black People. Seriously everyone knows this. (Early) Rabbanic & Islamic literature identified Shem & Ham as the progenitor of Black People. #1 Pirke Eliezer: “Noah brought his sons and his grandsons, and he blessed them with their (several) settlements, and he gave them as an inheritance all the earth. He especially blessed Shem and his sons, (making them) but but comely, and he gave them the habitable earth. He blessed Ham and his sons, (making them) black || like the raven, and he gave them as an inheritance the coast of the sea. He blessed Japheth and his sons, (making) them entirely white, and he gave them for an inheritance the desert and its fields; these (are the inheritances with) which he endowed them”. #2 Al-Tabari (d. 923),“The Children of Shem (i.e, Hebrews) settled in the center of the Earth, which is between Satidma and the sea and between Yemen and Syria. Allah made the prophets from them, revealed the Books to them, made them beautiful, gave them a black complexion, luminous and free of blemish…The children of Ham settled in the south..Allah gave them a black complexion, luminous and blemish-free…The children of Japheth settled in Safoun toward the north…They are light-skinned and very fair-skinned”.

Take neither Jews nor Christians as guardians-they are guardians of each other. Whoever does so will be counted as one of them. Surely Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people._ "Each other" doesn't specify one group being the ally of the other. The Arabic is بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَآءُ بَعْضٍ which literally means "some of them are allies of some of them." Tafsir Mukhtassar for example explains that this can mean that Christians are allies of each other and Jews are allies of each other: _The Jews will only support those of their religion, and the Christians will do the same._ And the Quran doesn't say that all Jews believed Ezra was the Son of God. Jews are not a monolith. Same goes for Christians. The Quran doesn't say that Mary is part of the Trinity, just that some Christians took her as a god, which there were in fact Christians that worshipped her, including some Catholics today. In the Quranic discourse, worshipping or praying to someone is taking them as a false god. It seems like you're in error all the time. Why do you need to misrepresent what the Quran says if it's so clearly wrong? Why do you have to lie against it if you're on the side of the truth? May Allah guide you and set your affairs straight.

@@thelordismyshepherd9980 I thank God for Islam every day, because all the debate that is going on today between Christianity, Judaism and Islam, the answer to which is found in our religion and our Qur’an. Islam did not leave us confused. Everything has an answer... and it spoke about the rest of the religions so that we can take an example from those who erred. As for science, instead of bragging about the phone, car, etc., you can read history about the virtue of Islamic civilization in the renaissance of Europe after the dark ages, and I will mention a small summary of history. Europe was affected by Arab culture and Islamic heritage, as this culture moved to the Western world, through Andalusia and the island of Sicily (southern Italy), and also through the Crusades that targeted the countries of the East. Christians and Jews from the spectrum of the Andalusian people, imitated the character of Muslims in terms of language, customs and morals while preserving their religion, and the Muslim caliphs in Andalusia relied on many elements of Jews and Christians in representing the state and in the translation process. The Arabists translated the books of Muslim scholars from Arabic into Hebrew and Latin, from which various Islamic sciences and heritage were transmitted to parts of Europe. Many Jews contributed to translating Arabic books into Hebrew, such as “Yacoub Ibn Mary” who translated Ibn Rushd’s books, and Musa Ibn Taboun who translated 30 books, including Ibn Sina’s “The Law and Arjoza fi Fever” and “The Antidote” by Abu Bakr al-Razi. “Judah bin Suleiman” translated the book “Maqamat al-Hariri”, and many other pioneers of the translation movement, such as Ibrahim bin Ezra, Abraham Briha Hansi...etc. Their role did not stop at translation, but rather for their proficiency and proficiency in several languages. A number of Muslims were chosen to represent the state abroad. For example, Abd al-Rahman III appointed a Jew, Hasdai bin Ishaq, as a negotiator on behalf of the ruler, and Bishop Raymond was chosen by Caliph Abd Al-Rahman Al-Nasser, to be a translator and ambassador in his name to the Emperor of Germany As for the island of Sicily, when the Romans seized it from the Muslims, they were fascinated by the Islamic civilization, and therefore they relied on Arab and Muslim elements to represent Sicily. Abd al-Rahman al-Nasrani was appointed as chief judge, and the second admiral was chosen by an Arab named “George of Antioch.” King Roger II was passionate about science and knowledge, and valued and honored Muslim scholars, and established a council for them to discuss and benefit from their sciences, as he brought them close to him. Among the scholars who were attracted by the king was Muhammad al-Idrisi, who was a poet and writer who received his knowledge in Cordoba, and studied botany, medicine, astronomy, philosophy and geography. The 18-year-old “Nuzha Al-Mashtaq fi Petrach Al-Afaq” is known to the West as “Roger’s Book.” In it, he attached a world map, in addition to the world map that he carved on spherical silver and gifted to the king. This book is considered the greatest geographical encyclopedia in history, which described geographically precisely. countries of the European, Asian and African continent, and has become a major reference in Europe The Crusades also had a direct role in the transfer of Islamic civilization to Europe, as it enabled the West to have direct contact with the Islamic world, and they established independent emirates in the Levant, and a number of Europeans were able to learn the Arabic language, and to translate many of the books of those wars in direct contact with the Arab Islamic civilization, With everything that is rich in its arts, sciences and architecture, the translation movement in Sicily, Andalusia and the Crusades contributed to the awakening of the Western world, and the entry of a new phase, known as the “European Renaissance.”

It’s only nowadays that Muslims and Jews are being portrayed as if they are mortal enemies or that they have hated each other forever. When in fact, it is Christians and Jews who are mortal enemies. They have historically always been enemies. Muslims have no resentment against Jews in essence. They are no different than Christians. In fact they are closer to us than Christians. Zionists are another story though. It’s propaganda. In 50 years they are going to blame all Christian’s wars against Jews on Muslims. When Muslims have historically lived side by side with no problems.

@@mohammadkazim5708 Shamsi said look in the book of numbers which it is nowhere to be found. However, if you look in Exodus 20:11 it just translates as rested. As is the case Genesis 2:1 and Exodus 23:12. However where the word "naphash" is used in Exodus 31 it translates in Aramaic as nach...to cease but often translated in English as refreshed. Furthermore we could argue (im only demonstrating your logic here) the Quran does the same thing. Even the mere use of the word "He" in reference to Gd is a "limiting" reference. I don't argue that case at all because I know it is obsurd. ANY reference to GD ANY characteristic to GD is human language which in itself is finite...however much one may think it is a positive attribute but we understand this to be amphromorphic because GD simply exists outside of time and space. It really shouldn't be that difficult to understand.

In my view, Shamsi should learn how to be calm and relax even trying to tell the truth. We cannot force people to understand us in this manner, as talking in calm manner is the characteristics of the prophets

@@jayd4ever NO IT DOES NOT. verb Resting - (verb) cease work or movement in order to relax, refresh oneself, or recover strength. "he needed to rest after the feverish activity" God does not need to refresh or rest. He is free from any impurities. Look how beautiful Allah is described in the Quran. Quran (Ayat Al Kursi) (2:255) Allah - there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.

I honestly prefer Muslim and Jewish debates because it's very informative. Christianity is all over the place to many different sects and beliefs. Most Importantly Christians don't debate or preach about their Bible they only want to put Muslims down. I have never seen anyone in speakers corner accept Christianity.

Why u like to lie against ur creator Almighty... Josh repent and learn the truth from true authentic preserved source the final message Quran... Come back to submit and surrender to God Almighty and leave ur rabbis flawless teachings, they won't save u on the day of judgement...

so why didn't god use another word instead of rest and refreshed?
@amraboughazala5986
@amraboughazala5986 2 жыл бұрын
God did use another word but it was translated to these words to be understood. That was almost the same in Quran, "ثم إستوي على العرش " إستوى >> doesn't mean sat or layed and we can't say so and we can't imagine it and we can't ask about it and we have to believe it. The only difference is that Shamsi is making is based on the Hadith of Mohamed PBUH that before the Jews asked him about the World creation in Quran and their reply was that it is not complete because of the resting part and so later came from Gabriel a verse that God confirms without rest. "وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍ وَمَا مَسَّنَا مِنْ لُغُوبٍ" It happens that in the translation of the Quran it is not exactly the same message. Yet the only difference is the understanding of it to be resting and refreshing that Saturday was called the day of rest since then.

A major difference I know is that there are horrific descriptions of the acts of some of the prophets (AS to all) in the old testament. The qura'an however makes it clear that all of the Servants (AS to all) of Allah SWT were honourable and true servants and hence we reject any notion to the accusations relayed within those texts. For example, they believe that David (AS) married Bathsheba the wife of Uriah the solider by allowing him to go into the front lines of the battle so that he could die there. This allowed him to claim his wife. [2 Samuel 11] Also, the incest relation between Lot (AS) and his daughters after the event of Sodom and Gomorrah. [Genesis 19:31-38] I think they also believe Solomon (AS) went astray in the end stages of his life by idolatry. [1 Kings 11] Astagfirullah, I feel bad for relaying such information. We as muslims do not think evil of the appointed Servants (AS to all) of Allah and reject any notion of wrong doing. ( Allahu aalam and correct me if I am wrong people of knowledge. If I have made a mistake here, let me know. Jazak Allahu Khairyan)
