The thing with current Yngwie, is that, while not as perfect or consistent as we ve seen him before. His style comes across despite his age and difficulty, wich is a real treat in itself. And to me, he's always dropping some new things, that for many are mistakes or dreadful feats, but i tend to feel taught soomething by him, even if he doesnt do it on purpose. And how s he not going to notice that? Simple. He s being free, little by little, playing what comes at hand at the moment. He only rehearse things in order to keep his chops, but go in for the kill at live situation, and allows himself to face the consequences of phucking things up or getting away with something unexpected. Thats the ultimate act of bravery from current Yngwie, if u ask me. Forget his perfection years, his fearless years are here, hes not a role model at guitar, while still having a technique many would kill to attain, but he's having fun, he aint seeking forgiveness, and sure as hell has nothing to prove to anyone. He s not for everyone, so PHUCK the nitpickers and his dissapointed fans, they're not in Yngwie s concern anymore. Even if he doesnt please me as a fan or via the listening experience, hes still one of a kind. im in awe just to see him keep going on at this point.

@@BrainWasherAttendent i ve seen over the years many guitar nerds and many metal heads with a shallow approach to the art and the artists, and it's heart wrenching how detached this ppl are from actual relationships with the world they have their foot on. Therefore, i lost the hype for life and ppl, but went to music up to a point where there was no doubt i liked it superb-latively. To ppl who don't love music, they ll just keep on treating it like an abstraction to please themselves, when it's more of a force that either hits u or it doesnt. And being that wrapped up in oneself can only find disgust on anything that goes the other way when them ppl wanted it to be certain way, or try to bend reality to fit their concept of what artists and art should sound like. Thing about Yngwie is that his intellect and passion, while him as a person is as flawed as anyone, is what separates him from wannabes because theres drive and depth to it. Everyone has their inmature side, but some folks have a grip on how to walk the earth without making things worse for the others. Yngwie s many things, but he s a really dedicated musician, a guitar obssessed like few, and so massively loved after all these years. And the rest of the world are entitled to be as ungrateful and jealous as they want, and not give credit where it's due, like decent person do, personal musical tastes aside. To downplay someones passion and being bitter just for posturing, good luck to those ppl, meanwhile Yngwie and many talented ppl are just what they are, and time has payed off, there for everyone to see. Hope your doing fine. All the best.

I couldn't believe Yngwie's playing when I heard Alcatrazz in the mid-80's. The songs, Graham Bonnet's vocals. Amazing. The Steeler album, nobody had heard anything like Yngwie's intro solo to Hot on your heels. Randy Rhoads is my favorite player, musician, since Blizzard of Ozz. When I heard Yngwie's playing with Alcatrazz, I couldn't believe it. Randy, if he was still with us, could have done an incredible project with Yngwie.

I think he could play like he did in 1985 but he insists on cramming as many notes into smaller and smaller musical space. He sounded better when he didn't always try to play silly speeds. Hiroshima in '85 was stunning but here it was just frustrating to hear that. I also want the old tone back. I don't know if it is the new PUs or he is favoring distortion over the more beautiful overdrive sound.
