Give the Genesis to the right developer and they can do incredible things. 1. The fairway, rough, sand bunkers, and green on the Genesis version look like their real life counterparts. The Snes courses look they were designed in MS Paint. 2. The swing animations on Genesis version look amazing compared to the choppy ones on the SNES. 3. Little details on Genesis version like the mini map and animated wind flag are a nice touch.

Not the same game: 96 on SNES is equivalent to PGA Tour Golf III on Genesis (like all EA sports games there was much more series support on Sega) hence the greater choice of courses on SNES. The Genesis version is PGA's 16-bit offering in the transition to 32-bit which was also occurring with NBA Live, FIFA, and planned for NHL and Madden (their only 32-bit '96 entries ended up PC-exclusive) of which the SNES had no equivalent because this was it for that console. Like all other EA Sports games in the 16-bit era Genesis played [and more often than not sounded] better but SNES owners were still privileged enough to not miss out on much [if any] content while frequently getting better visuals. I compiled lists of each game's courses and found that those who had this and the first PGA Tour for SNES could play everything included with II and III for Genesis (the original for Genesis is pointless to those who already have II because it features all the same and more).

The music on Genesis is very emotional. SNES music is much less. The course on SNES is flat. But on the SMD is has different heights.

O meu mega por algum capricho do destino veio com pebble beach golf links, e hoje posso afirmar que ele era um jogo muito avançado, não vi nenhum jogo dos 16 bits fazer o que ele fazia como rotação 360, e não tem essa construção demorada como o PGA Tour 96, ia ser legal ver uma comparação fica a dica.

The one constant in my memories of scouring pawn shops for deals on retro games was that they would always have a stack of EA sports games for the Sega Genesis. No matter the pawn shop, no matter the town. No one kept these games for very long.

@@SomeOrangeCat 60$ a pop brand new all selling far more copies then Sunset Riders on a yearly basis. Supply and demand... All those JRPG'S that had low print runs in the States. Just get the Japanese versions in the bargain bins for a few pennies... Just goes to show you how worthless (Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, Super Mario RPG and Zelda) ended up being 🤔

eu estava inclinado a dar essa para o SNes, baseado na qualidade dos menus iniciais. Mas ver os menus in game, as animações do personagem, a cena de transição e o fato de que o gramado no SNes parece uma batida de abacate sem textura, o voto passa a ser pra versão do Mega.

The SNES has the darker, muted colors? The Genesis has a relaxing soundtrack? Who swapped these kids at birth? Guess it proves how much of each system's personality depended on the developer. People saw the cool shadow palettes on the Genesis and got lazy with GEMS, while using cheap SlowROMs for SNES, but neither system had to suffer. Other options were available. Anyways, the SNES loses this one because the developer simulates entire cpu games between putting on the green. It's insane and more than a little bit insulting, how much contempt they have for your time. I don't mind the Genesis wait for polygon rendering, because it's actually giving me enhanced gameplay for my patience.

Why dont you cover other systems like the Sega Master System, NES, PC Engine, Amiga, Atari ST, Jaguar. It just seems to be Megadrive vs Snes or Playstation vs Xbox 🤷‍♂️ just saying

I don´t like sports games in general; they tend to be pretty boring or confusing to play, at least for me, even on more modern and powerfull hardware. But at least i appreciate when the developers add an interesting visual effect on older consoles, like mode 7 effects on soccer, basketball, football games on the snes or the 3d polygonal effects in Genesis/ Megadrive golf games (altough with low fps). Aside from graphics i found most golf games on Genesis/ Megadrive have very soothing/ relaxing soundtracks wich i feel are a bit uncommon on the Megadrive. And again it is a shame we cannot experience the full stereo sound coming out of these games in your comparissons 😐. Oh, and another suggestion: you shoud change the order in wich you present the gameplay sometimes, placing the snes version on the left side and the genesis/ megadirve on the right side. It could help you sometimes 😉.

I love retro sports games because they have original music and more charm. After the fifth generation of consoles, they grew stale very quickly.

A versão de SNES tem um visual muito melhor com aquelas nuvens e árvores mais detalhadas, mas tem aquele please Wait chato que incomoda demais, ainda assim achei essa versão mais funcional, já essa versão do Mega é toda lenta com esses carregamentos das partes cenário feito em 3D, que pra mim não tinha necessidade nenhuma de existir e só a fluidez das animações de tacadas que ficou maneiro. Ambas versões são ruins, não há vencedores aqui.
