The design and operational complexity of metropolitan rail systems is amazing. I live in small town rural America with one freight line, Norfolk Southern, running through it. Back in the 60s we still had passenger service and there is the possibility of Amtrak restarting service. Love your videos!

I lived in Nishi-Ogikubo for 4 years, just 5 minute walk from the station and took this train every day to Shinjuku for work. I really miss Japan.

What a nice and beautiful train ride through several urban landscapes, one of the best I've ever watched since then.... Really like the switches, lines diverging, lines going up and down, lines going over viaducts, as well as the wide diversity of trains crossing. Very good filming with the real sounds, thanks for sharing this with us. Greetings from Brazil.
This is a far cray from my Canadian National Railways with trains over 2.0 km long running down the main street in my small town. Visiting Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka and Kobe is on my to visit list.
I once had coffee at the cafe that appears on the right at 56:19 quite a nice place.

I am surprised by how loud the passengers are - I was under the impression that it was considered very impolite to talk/be loud on a train in Japan? I was also surprised by how low the top speed was -- I know this is not the Shinkansen but I was expecting it to be much faster. Still, it always amazes me how perfectly on-time Japanese trains are. Great video!
@tehStarcubed5 жыл бұрын
The train runs relatively slower compared to the rapid service trains because this is the chuo special rapid line (中央特快) only stops at major stations whilst the rapid (中央快速)service stops at most stations. If they ran at a faster speed they would be going to come across red signals.
@RS-nq8xk4 жыл бұрын
Japanese people seems to have become louder perhaps because of tourists (?) And most routes in Tokyo are slow. On this Chuo Line only the Special Rapid trains and Limited Express trains (and outside of rush hour too) are decently speedy.

@@tyonamin Kind of like, some people will eventually get used to it. Or some thinking will go like 'theres no reason for us to be quiet'. That's just a guess though haha
@kaki2361 Жыл бұрын
You might as well keep quiet during on-peak period as there are more people going to work and getting back home after work, which means people are more likely to be upset about you talking. However, it’s ok for you to talk during off peak period. And probably because women talking had seat close to the cameraman.
