Hi, was on the first half of the route 2 weeks ago, came from Landau over B10 from Landau to Pirmasens, then furher on A8 and then on A623 to Saarbrücken. Schöne hügelige Gegend, like to travel there, as the traffic is also somewhat lower compared to other regions in Germany. Thanks for the video, greetings from a roadtripper from Germany!

Cool! I should also explore this region more, it's quite beautiful. The B10 cuts right through old volcanic landscapes, the Saarland region has a ton of industrial heritage and of course there is excellent wine in the region too :)

Once again nice video. What struck me are the bilingual German-French tourist information boards. I know it's a border region, but officially it's not a bilingual region. Doubt if the French would do the same for the Germans on the other side of the Saar. And what are those poles on 13:30 about? Any Idea?

You mean the concrete barriers on the right? Not sure.. Maybe just an overgrown sound barrier?

No. Mean the set of parallel pillars on both sides of the highway just before and after that bridge crossing the autobahn at 13:35. The sound barrier on the left starts after the final pillar, so looks odd ...

@@TheMexxodus Oh those, yes I've got no clue what those are. Looks odd indeed

@@nielsontheroad Found the explanation on de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sender_Heusweiler. It was a cage of Faraday construction across the autobahn to counteract magnetic-radio wave interference of radio transmission masts that used be there. On the pillars some kind of steel-wired grid was suspended to protect electronics of wars and trucks on the nearby highway.

@@TheMexxodus Interesting. Typical they left part of the structure standing, they tend to do that with bridges sometimes here as well

Majority of BAB 8 has a speed limit anywhere from 80-130 kmh. From Pforzheim all the way to the Luxembourg. At Pirmasens to Saarbrücken the speed limit is 100 km/h (62 mph) despite have no speed cameras of possible traffic jams. Trucks more than 3.5 tonnes are forbidden from overtaking cars. The B10 should be full grade-separated* in the next 40-50 years or it would hold many local drivers and tourists. *Just many 2+1 or four lane divided or undivided road (without hard shoulder and narrow lane warning) with the tunnels being taller and wider so it won’t hassle double decker coaches / oversized trucks* 6:42 & 9:38 What is that red truck and black car sign? No overtaking or changing lanes for trucks over 5.5 tonnes?
