In my opinion, the actor playing the interrogator is amazingly cast. He looks as if he came right out of a 1940s print advertisement, perfectly fitting the film noir aesthetics of the scene. Great voice as well.

I saw this movie in 1982 while playing in a tennis tournament in Macon, GA. I was 14. After matches, my mom took me to the theater. During that July week, we saw Rocky III, E.T., and Blade Runner. Blade Runner was both of our favorites of the 3. All of the movies had merit and were entertaining, but this one was so poetic and beautiful. Tragic too. Blade Runner was a box office flop. It didn’t suit the mood of the times, but it has stood the test of time. People love it because it plays tones that live deep in the human soul & spirit. Blade Runner swims freely into the deep end. It will stick with you if you give it a chance.

Back in 1982, Blade Runner premier opening day, I was off duty and off base with no plans for the rest of the day or evening. So wandered by the main theater in downtown Fairfield, CA. This movie poster was out front. And then I saw that the very first matinee showing of this movie was starting in only ten minutes. Curious, I got my ticket, got some popcorn and a drink. I think I was only one in the theater, so sat dead center with a decent sized screen. I walked out, being totally amazed, and wondered how I was the only one seeing this first screening on fresh film. And even with all those who saw it back then, it didn't do very well at the box office apparently, and was poorly promoted. Only in time, and after released on video, and special art house re-showings, did it finally start to get the mass visibility it deserved. I even bought the original orchestral soundtrack on vinyl, as the Vangelis version was not yet able to be put out for some reason. What an experience. Almost 43yrs ago..wow.

If you look carefully, when Leon first fires the gun, a black shape emerges from it. That's because, as per the making of BR book, originally the gun was supposed to fire a black beam (sort of like an anti-light plasma) but the effect didn't photograph well against the dark backgrounds and was too laborious to create so it was dropped after that one instant.

A society that is both a bewildering & jaw-dropping spectacle and at the same time a dystopian & nightmarish eyesore. While technology has advanced at an unfathomable speed and humanity has colonized the stars, at the same time, earth is a polluted, dying cesspool. It does that fact justice and shows it to you as it is. Everything is perfectly put together to show all the beauty and disgustingness of this setting. In the 1950's, they thought we'd be flying around in hover cars in the 1980's. In the 1980's, they thought we'd be flying around in cars in the 2010's. Can we all just agree that the whole flying car thing probably ISN'T gonna happen.

Fact : Leon’s Blaster was supposed to emit Black Electro Particle Mist but after numerous attempts it was a fail , btw did anyone notice Det. Holden unholstered his Blade Runner Blaster after the second shot ?

Good catch!

Actually it looks like Holden was getting ready to shoot as he asked Leon the question about his mother. He has his hands underneath the table just like Leon, he just didn't shoot in time.

Actually you can tell they draw down on each other roughly the same time. First Leon and then Holden after he puts out the cigarette.

I had a VHS copy of this movie like in 1990. I was watching my thys movie at work one time and a coworker sat down to watch it with me. He loved the atmosphere of the movie. He asked if he could borrow it to watch it. I said OK. It's been 35 years and he probably still has it. That movie is all he talked about

I am here em 2021. São Paulo, Brasil. Sao Paulo is a third world metropolis, with huge buildings, opulence and slums. Here are shindus, Chinese, Japanese, Europeans, Arabs, Jews, Portuguese, Bolivians ... A chaotic and lonely city like the globalized Los Angels of the film ... I was here, watching this video. Me and my virus.

Maravilloso y pesadillesco al mismo tiempo, extraordinario, pone la piel de galliina.... Blade Runner es la obra maestra definitiva .
