We welcome you to Asilah! In Arabic: أصيلة‎, in French: Assilah, is a municipality on the Atlantic coast of Morocco, about 46 km south of Tangier. The old quarter, or medina, is delimited by well-preserved walls and gates built by Portuguese settlers in the 15th century. The medina is an artistic center noted for its murals and the annual Moussem Culturel International d'Asilah festival. Among the most important buildings are the Center de Hassan II Rencontres Internationales exhibition space and the Raisuni palace, built at the beginning of the 20th century. Asilah is known for its long beaches of fine sand, international festivals, its forum and university, which take place in summer, enlivening its streets, attracting numerous artists, journalists, thinkers and politicians from all over the world.
