Hi Rick. The scene where the boats go by a typical midwestern farm house, animals, barn, etc. reminds me so much of my home area in northeastern Kansas. This ride is a real blessing...

I agree Michael. It’s a shame that all the rides being built now are just based off movies only. I can understand why that’s their mindset, but I truly believe building an occasional non IP ride that’s relaxing and educational like this one would be worth it(and also not that expensive)
@DaveSmith-cp5kj Жыл бұрын
@@4KWDW I think the design of this ride left a lot of potential lost though. For one, the entire ride is extremely light on information. As a kid I wouldn't have any idea how cool the hydroponic system is because they didn't talk about how conventional in dirt farming works. They also said things like it uses less chemicals when hydroponics actually uses more chemicals than regular in dirt farming, which is why pesticides are not necessary and the message should have been that learning how plants interact with the dissolved chemicals is what gives the plants the accelerated growth. Also they should have had some kind of mechanical or light up sign at each stage so everyone knows what they are looking at. I noticed especially at the end you are kind of looking all over the place for what the narrator is talking about because the order he says it doesn't match the order it is presented to the rider. It also would be a cool if they made a miniature disney branded single hydroponic plant for the kids to try at home. You could even make it a collectable thing with multiple units connected together and buy a pump kit (because you know everything in disney is priced and not included, lol) to make their own mini version of the hydroponic setup seen. I feel like they kind of didn't execute this ride to its fullest potential. They wouldn't even really need to design an actual product either, because such educational kits are already sold online.

They basically got rid of the whole pavillion system. It made Epcot pretty unique though. Each huge building had both rides and restaurants mixed together. You could do several attractions in a row without ever having to go back outside.

I highly recommend the behind the scenes meds tour. You have to reserve ahead of time. We took our 10 yr old and he loved it. As an adult he still speaks of it as he’s getting his degree in landscape architecture. Environment, gardening growing veg, trees are a passion of his.

Even though the ride running through the dining areas is cool as a rider, it's a little awkward actually eating and like 100 faces are staring at you. Like in pirates ride you got this fancy and expensive dining arrangement, and then a family with crying kids just rolls up 15 yards away watching you eat your surf and turf. lol

One of the awesome things about Disney World was it kind of represented the summary of mankind for kids. All the different technologies and accomplishments around the world were on display in various ways even in their IPs and it was kind of like showing the kids what they can be a part of when they grow up to build the future. It was extremely inspirational. Especially today with the amazing technology we have, presentations like this hydroponic setup should be more common in Disneyland and Disney world. Instead we have LGBT parades. lmao. Hey kids, when you grow up, you can suck dick or cut yours off!

Does anyone have updates on the individuals from Living with the Land's last scene, especially 'tomato girl' and 'blueberry kid'? I learned those images might be stock photos purchased in the 80s/90s, meaning they could be in their early 50s now. It's intriguing to think they’ve been part of Epcot's history for decades without knowing. Would love to hear if there's any info out there. Their presence has left a lasting impact on many of us.
