Good video, but I'd look into Kaizen foam. Its closed cell foam so it wont trap and hold moisture next to your firearms and equipment, unlike the open cell foam that comes with your Pelican/other brand case. They come in sheets of different thicknesses and are laminated together, once you trace the outline of your items they are very easy to peel out individual layers and adjust the depth to match the item. The sheets have two alternating color layers so it is super easy to spot missing items. The foam is much more durable and won't fray with use like the foam that comes with the case. They also have some great foam cutting accessories. If you watch some videos and consider getting a few sheets, you can use your existing foam as a template. You can keep the bottom and lid layer and just use the Kaizen for the equipment layer. Can also do multiple cutouts for different foam cases. I went Kaizen and will never go back to regular foam or pick-n-pluck. Also recommend you get a dessicant pack for your case (one of the metal ones). Ear pro, eye pro, spare batteries also good additions. Good video!

Thanks for the tip, I'll check out Kaizen foam!

plastic dip the foam to help prevent the foam from tearing and help reduce mold from developing. Things I keep in my case is a bit set, spare batteries, bipod, and a spare bcg. Could get fancy and add extra tools like LRF, multi tool, etc, but those I keep in my range bag.
@4MRRanch3 күн бұрын
@@GldenRetriever yep, depending on the range day the tools may vary and that’s why I cut multi purposes slots into my cases.

Boss bought me the Magpul DAKA case a couple months ago…soooo much nicer than having a bunch of spare foams in the closet

You can use 3m super 77 adhesive after everything is cut to glue the 2 layers together

Do you actually use a hard case anymore? I only use maybe once a year. Soft cases are amazing nowadays
@4MRRanch4 күн бұрын
For travel yes. For short trips to the range, sometimes hard sometimes soft double cases

I did this awhile back. I used an electric carving knife. I’ve since switched to the Daka organizer and I’ll never look back. It allows me to configure it for whatever I’m hauling. F**k foam.

I’m very tempted to try those. My buddy loves his. Guess I’m still old school with the love for custom cut foam.

@ I’m pretty sure they make a universal set now, in case you don’t have the Pelican or Magpal cases, which is nice.

Case gets stupid heavy, get a case with big rollers

This does have wheels actually. I appreciate them lol

Your rifle is upside down in the case!!! The scope should be towards the handle side and not the hinge side.
@flipcoin63013 күн бұрын
Yes. He could rotate the foam 180*
@4MRRanch3 күн бұрын
I like the rifle to be right side up when I open the case, but I see your point
@dimemmo3 күн бұрын
@@4MRRanchyou could always flip the foam if it’s an issue for yoy
@4MRRanchКүн бұрын
Never been an issue yet, this is my preference for aesthetics when opening the case. This build has solid optics and a quality mount. I would be surprised if it gets damaged, especially with some foam protecting the optic. Plus, for it to truly bottom out, the foam supporting the rifle itself would also have to compress.
@davestarr16883 күн бұрын
You should never put your gun in a case with the scope facing the hinges.
@4MRRanch3 күн бұрын
I can rotate the foam. I left adequate padding, and I prefer the rifle to be upright when opening the case
