Whoa that’s effed up. “chuke” has a video about 510 blowing up from buffalo bore. Apparently there was a fellow up there in Fairbanks Alaska that had called FN to confirm it was safe to shoot buffalo bore from his 510 tactical. They said send it and it blew up in his hand. Buffalo bore told him it was because the 510 doesn’t have great chamber support and when he reached out to FN they blamed buffalo bore and refused to replace it. Wonder why they won’t replace the other guys.

@@Isometrix116 Then why would it have a threaded barrel if it can break by putting a silencer on it????
@jimm734614 күн бұрын
@@governmentmu1e588 10mm isn't really meant to be suppressed. You absolutely can, sure, but it's still really loud, and there aren't any factory made loads of 10mm subsonic (I've been able to find a readily available stock from a small company, and it's $27.99 for 20 rounds--they're also a small company, and some warranties may consider it "hand loaded ammunition" and could void warranties on suppressors or firearms). 10mil has a ton of pressure behind it and is designed that way; 40 s&w is easily suppressed because it's a 10mm round with way less powder and presure behind it by design. That extra pressure behind the 10mm round is part of what makes it so deadly. For the 510 tactical, the threaded barrel is ideally for compensators, from what I've read, or if you care about muzzle velocity you get an extra half an inch on that barrel and get an extra couple hundred fps. Again not saying you can't suppress 10mil or anything, but general consensus is it's not really worth it. A buddy of mine had really good luck with his 10mm Kriss Vector and an Obsidian 45 suppressor, but you get a longer barrel there that helps mitigate the pressure.

I used to own a FNX 45 tactical and got rid of it because of the build quality of the lower frame. I could squish the mag well just by pressing my palms together, and if I left it on a table in the sun for a long time, it would start to deform on its own. I confirmed this to be a common problem other FNX owners observed.

@@hulkthedane7542 disintegrate? Sure
@hulkthedane754214 күн бұрын
Well sorry if I express myself less than perfectly. English is my second language, and to me "disintegrate" is a form "breaking". The gun broke under its own weight and intended use - that is not exactly a good way to earn my trust.

A strong argument for metal frames. You don't see 1911s etc. doing this.
@QBDLettuce15 күн бұрын
I definitely would've expected better quality from an FN. If I put my mechanic hat on, I'd say the increased back pressure from the suppressor caused the slide to slam back that much harder and sent that extra shock through the frame, and viola. Still great video!! It's always a good time when the action of the gun is louder than the round being fired.
@GodsMostAutistic14 күн бұрын
Nope, FN just quit giving a damn about their pistols
@werre212 күн бұрын
It's not a gas operated gun so if anything the suppressor (by adding weight) should slow down the slide not accelerate it. I suspect material failure, the weight of the light pulled it apart at a cracked weak point.
@rickymagallanes607312 күн бұрын
My FN 509 came with two separate recoil springs to mitigate recoil and I’ll bet the extra back pressure from the suppressor and full power load caused the gun to break. He just didn’t have the correct spring installed… or so I think

To be fair, that part of the gun is not essential. It just covers the front of the barrel and has the forward trigger guard. As long as the barrel is not compromised (my first thought was it blew out the front of the barrel or the connection between the barrel and the suppressor due to high pressure), it's just a bit more "open" and light-weight. Not sure if it counts as an illegal modification, though....^^

You can see in the slow-mo the recoil of the pistol going to but the weight of the suppressor kept the tip of barrel down, cracking the access/mount forend and trigger guard of the polymer receiver. Plus the weight of the weapon light too. A metal receiver would handle it.
@dylanowens7015 күн бұрын
That explains it. I knew it had to be something to do with the operation of the firearm and not the round. Barrel not tipping is most logical reason.
