I did a whole show of cakes but for the finale finally we used a 3 inch tube on a 3.5 pound motar, but you amazing setup! love it!

Any tips for beginners as far as firing systems are concerned? We've gotten pretty good at staging correctly and timing by hand but its a little sketchy sometimes as well as the high chance of mis-timing. Any info on where to start and get the hang of it would be highly appreciated. Fantastic setup and keep up the great content!

I have a bias opinion on this matter, so please take that into consideration. In my opinion, save up for a Cobra. It might be pricey to start, but it will enable you to do so much more in the future! Other options would include the cheaper import systems that you can find on Quantum Fire. These are the kind of systems I personally started using. You could also look into making a nail board or other homemade way of firing your show without dropping a bunch of money on the equipment.

hey joel, i have a question for you. using the firewire ignitiators, did you have many/any misfires? i want to try those out for next year's show but I'm hesitant. I used 75 talons in this year's show and only 1 failure. also, do you use a brass awl and put the firewore directly into powder on each cake ahead of time or what? im trying to do everything i can next year to not spend 12 hours out in the field setting up...

also, I'll have parts of my show (the recording of the full show failed sadly) uploaded soon, and would love some feedback if you get a moment. bear in mind, this was our first year to do it electronically, and we had 2 modules with a ton of scab wiring, and a manual remote.. it was tough but rewarding. We even got some drone footage this year I'm looking forward to seeing! :)

The first version of the firewires were the ones that had issues. You might have seen those in Displayfireworks1's video. That was a very early beta run if you will. They have since been improved. I have tested many of them with absolutely no issues. We had 88 cues in this show and 100% firing success! The only thing to keep in mind, is with Cobra you cannot use as many in parallel or series since they have a higher resistance than ematch. I would recommend picking up some lollypokes (Brass awl). I never show us attaching them in videos since some people criticize the best way to do this. If you want to shoot me an email, we can discuss it further! Hey Joel....What camera did you use for the time lapse? How long was the recording and did you have it hooked up to a power source?

Tim Hymer For the time lapse I was just using a GoPro hero 4 and it was recording for probably half hour during the lapse I showed. It can run for a few hours though and there are other time lapse settings available. I just recorded normally and sped it up while editing.

Thanks Joel. I was thinking of doing a time lapse for my setup this year and I'm totally green with this setting. I have a Gopro 3 Black but, I figured my setup time would out last the battery life.

Tim Hymer I believe they have longer lasting batteries you can buy. I actually have 3 total batteries so I could just switch them out every so often when we take breaks etc.

Check out Attitude Adjustment from Phantom. Really expensive but it is soooo loud when you mix with da bomb (also from Phantom) I know you had an iffy experience with Phantom but in NW Indiana it's all we have that I trust. You're the man keep it up!

First off, happy 4th! I always look forward to watching your stash, setup, and show videos! I love that you can do so much and make such great shows using only consumer fireworks! It makes me want to do the same thing! Sadly, I live in Pennsylvania, where I can only get fountains (legally, at least). Have you considered getting an ATF license so that you can use professional products?
