You're not being overly critical at all, the Lions offense is just not in sync like they usually are, from Ben to Jared to even the OL. Not like they're horrible or even playing poorly - but they just don't have that cohesiveness right now, especially in the red zone. I'll be haunted by "Number 8" running free to stop Gibbs from scoring the go-ahead TD all year, lol. Always great stuff, brother, thanks!

Interior oline needs improvement, play calling as well. Goff should be at the line of scrimmage wayy earlier in the clock, allowing him to change his cadence more, keeping the defense off balance. That would help the interior oline as well. Would love a Barnes video. Great assessment as always.
@kenmcwise1776Ай бұрын
We were certain that Goff would bring us back for a victory. 1 TD for 7 trips to the red zone is unheard of in a Ben Johnson offense. But, it happened and Ben's play calls, with the O-lines sub par play, LaPorta's struggles, and Tim Patricks inexperience in our offense seemed to make Goff uncomfortable in this game. He seemed to be out of sync much of the game. Many observers in the Detroit market wondered why we were not making more throws into the end zone as you noted also. At this point I think most believe this game was an anomaly. It better be if we want to reach our Super Bowl goal this year.
@Charlie-s4k4vАй бұрын
I appreciate your insight regarding Zeitler. PFF, which has its issues, lists Zeitler as one of the most successful of the OL for Detroit at this point. Although that may be true, you appear to believe his game is below that of his Raven years. Hopefully, it is due to new line mates and will work itself out, so we, Detroit Lions fans, can see Zeitler as his best.

Caoch DC.. awesome content. What I saw was that Lions almost won on two different Gibbs runs, and got stuck trying to beat zone pass defenses. The Lions offense is close.
@MichaelKomar-o5yАй бұрын
One play early in the game told me that something is off with Geoff. It was 3rd and goal at the 4. Tampa has 7 off the line of scrimmage and fairly deep. Geoff is in shotgun. He throws immediately to Jamo to the boundry even though he is double covered. With Montgomery in as the RB, I'm surprised Geoff wouldn't have audibled to a run play up the gut considering how successful they were playing bully ball against the Rams late last week.

That 2nd pick was 100% on Patrick. Based on the coverage and the film alone that zone was wide open, if anything it would've been a incomplete pass. What other reason would goff throw to that specific area (thats wide open) if Patrick wasn't supposed to be their? Like you said goff is to smart to make a mistake like that when he hasn't done that since he's been in detroit. If that was Reynolds instead of Patrick thats a incomplete pass at worst.
@LionsOnTheHunt313Ай бұрын
But that zone wasn't wide open, Patrick would have have been lit up by the safety on that play. I think it had more to do with Goff getting hit as he threw it and an obvious miscommunication on the route call/concept.

Missing Josh Reynolds.. and other possession receiver was out (Amon Ra).. 320+ passing yards, 139 rushing yards, means parts are working, but high value snaps like red zone or 3rd and long are not working

Josh Reynolds is not the reason this offense looks out of sync. The Bucs defense quite frankly had our routes figured out. Our IOL is playing very poorly. Regardless of what you think of Goff, a lot of quarterbacks make poor decisions and throws under pressure. Also the repeated screen passes were definitely something. This is a multitude of problems and blaming it on Reynolds is such a low level cop out

9:28 Goff was getting hit as he threw that second INT and couldn’t even complete his full throwing motion with his arm, so my wild speculation is that he only got like 80% distance on it.
@theodery2712Ай бұрын
The first pick was PI, grabbing Jamo, the second is new guy Patrick breaking right instead of left were Goff thought he'd be. A perfect pass over the middle if the new guy didn't mess the route. People blame Goff, but both picks weren't his fault.

On the 3rd & 6 it was a run call. Baker decided to throw it. He took responsibility for it after the game.

Great work Goff. Inside the thirty and you center punch a Buccaneer with not a Lion within 20 yards. Good things coming guys. Our QB is throwing at ghosts. Even if there was supposed to be a Lion there, is he robotic to the play just having faith a Lion will appear where there are none?

@chadd587 So if the play call is a run to the right and the rb goes to the left resulting in a negative play is that the qbs fault? Or the player who didn't do their job? Recievers are supposed to be able to recognize zone coverages and sit or go2 the opening. It's not just qbs who are responsible for reading coverages.
@chadd587Ай бұрын
@@silent1759 I get what you're trying to say, but that showing doesn't qualify. The closest Lion was in the end zone. Nothing within 15 yards of that Buccaneer. Don't be ignorant
@silent1759Ай бұрын
@chadd587 yea it does because he ran the completely wrong route. Had patrick ran into the zone it would've been an incomplete pass at worst. You can't look at that play and tell me that the zone wasn't wide tf open. It's not the qbs fault that he reads the defense correctly and throws it to the open zone, and the receiver didn't read the coverage correctly. Asking the qb to sit there and wait is how you get late throws and sacks/fumbles. Goff read it correctly and patrick didn't. It's that simple. Reading coverages on time matters in this offense and when done correctly it's hard to stop which yall have witnessed.
