I've been mocked many times for saying that higher level players and pros play off of "feel" that comes from having played thousands of games. And Red stalling paladin production around 30:00 to go Hussar even though he has 5K gold just screams that his natural reaction after thousands of games was telling him that he should be out of natural gold at this point and to stall while adding in trade, but he had tons of gold because he sold food for such good rates at the market

To answer T90' s question at 56:14 (1:30:00 game time), The blue team had 493 more kills than the red team had deaths. So effectifely they (as blue team) already did (at least) 493 friendly kill

@@Incommensurabilities No no. You might have misunderstood me. The Houfnice player killed 2000+ unit at this point. Blue only created Houfnices then. But out of the 2000 kills, the friendly unit hits were in the range of 500! So about 25%. This is just an estimation, because friendly fire could also come from teal's onagers, but a lot of frienly fire is also hidden by the turkish team's own friendly fires from cannons and onagers. The only certain data is that the Farmless Team did 493 MORE friendly kills THAN the Turkish Team!

I was upset they only sent a couple villagers into the enemy trade, I would've thought you want horse archers there, but then again, maybe such a small investment into that raid allowed them to push the middle and get the win. Amazing game, thank you t90 and the players.
@CalebShimomura Жыл бұрын
Yeah, there was a massive overreaction by red because of the potential damage that could be done. Obviously T90 said it himself that without the meat shield the onagers were sitting ducks, but even if green had sent like... 10 villagers, it could have caused massive damage with bombard towers. he probably would've needed to send something like 10-12 paladins anyway, and if he under-reacted and cavalry archers came in to raid the trade, 10-12 would've gotten eaten alive and then their whole eco is exposed. I think red had to gamble that this was part of a big raid, and unfortunately, it was just a distraction. Outstanding play.

BTW when you buy res, it "counts twice" in the summary. E.g. buying 100 food with 137 gold collected means that you will have at least 237 res collected. meaning that in this game, you could see how much food they actually bought from gold, roughly 16k-40k, removing the ~2k initial food (but you can't really see how much it has cost them).

I imagine those generals sitting there drinking tea planning on where to send the bodies. - Ground is getting too uneven, it's getting harder to get new tower foundations down. - Ok how many bodies do you need? - Hmmm....probably around 500m3, but I can work with 300m3 if you can get them to die in the right places. - Ok got it! - Ok men see those two piles your friends made yesterday! You need to hold that ditch between them or their sacrifice will have been in vain.

Incredible game, glad I decided to come back and check this one out. I love 'jokes played seriously' like this, and this map basically made for one huge, continuous running battle. Leading to a surprisingly and highly satisfying conclusion too. "As the drum roll started on that day, heard a hundred miles away A million shells were fired and the green fields turned to grey The bombardment lasted all day long, yet the forts were standing strong Heavily defended, now the trap has been sprung and the battle has begun Descend into darkness 303 days below the sun Fields of Verdun And the battle has begun Nowhere to run Father and son Fall one by one Under the gun Thy will be done And the judgement has begun Nowhere to run Father and son Fall one by one Fields of Verdun Though a million shells have scarred the land, no one has the upper hand From the ground above to trenches, where the soldiers make their stand As the trenches slowly turn to mud, and then quickly start to flood Death awaits in every corner, as they die in the mud, fill the trenches with blood Fields of execution turned to wasteland from the grass Thou shalt go no further it was said they shall not pass The spirit of resistance and the madness of the war So… Go ahead! Face the lead! Join the dead! Though you die! Where you lie! Never asking why!"

There were two things i expected to see in this game but didn't. Firstly monks from the farmless team. They only cost gold and have the third longest range in the game, only 1 less than the Bombard Cannons / Houfnices. Maybe the team just preferred a straight up brawl to wololoing, which i can respect :) The second thing is Warwolf Trebuchets from the Britons. They have _the_ longest range in the game and could semi-reliably snipe the enemy's slow, valuable units like Houfnices and Scorpions. They would also handle the bombard towers or any villagers building them. The lack of british trebs feels like the biggest missed opportunity of the game. Still an amazing game! Big props to come up with a challenge like this and actually pulling it off, and props to both teams for really solid play!
