Hello Nick. You certainly did the right thing. A brand new vehicle fitted out with all the brand new fruit for 62 , 000 dollars you can't get better than that ..I bought a 2019 Mux LST from new .My wife said she is not driving that , no way .After she had a drive of it , I can't get the key off her she loves it that much .The 7 seats come in handy all the time with all the grandkids. We drive regularly to the Sunshine Coast from the Gold Coast and it uses 6 • 5 litres a 100 ks.can't get better than that .Trips to the Queensland outback and the Snowies 8 litres 100ks .My wife takes everything and the kitchen sink with all the back seats down..We carry at least 30 litres of fresh water to make cups of tea in bore water areas .Your truck lucks a million dollars it's a credit to you well done ..

I’m just wondering, have you ever divulged in your videos that you are a mechanic and therefore the installations are within your ability range? I admit originally thought you must’ve been handy on the tools but after watching your various installs and where your doing them I figured you must work there! Full disclosure is a good thing.

Thanks a lot Dale! I have mentioned in a few of my videos that I am mechanic. The main focus of my channel is to provide thorough videos on installing and maintaining vehicles so that anybody can have a go at these jobs and installs themselves. I have been thinking if doing a video on my background and who I am etc. Maybe that would be a good idea so everyone can learn a little bit more about me. Cheers for the message. 🙂

I brought my vehicle at exactly the same time as you and was able to get the tour mate kit added giving me an alloy bullbar and towbar as well as window and bonnet protector. I picked it up for 47 drive away the car is still worth about the same amount of money so as far as good investments go the MU-X is well worth it and the good vehicle to do up. My one was never brought with the intention of being a heavy duty four-wheel driver we've only added a light bar extra to it for the sake of country driving it is however used as a tow vehicle for our caravan. I noticed you didn't mention your engine module and towbar. I think you spent your money very wisely as they are a very good solid car. I really appreciate the good features you put together on these cars. Cheers Phill

Great video Nick. Totally agree with your logic. I compared the MUX LSU to Prado GXL, Everest Trend, Pajero Sport and Fortuner back in late 2015. I owned a Pajero at the time which was well modified and I initially looked at 2-3 year old Pajeros and Prados to keep the cost to around $40k. I was able to get my LSU for $42k and it was an easy decision. $20k less than a Prado or Everest and basically the same price as a 3 yo Prado, out of warranty. I wasn't impressed with the Paj Sport or Fortuner, so ruled them out pretty early on. I've spent a similar amount to you on mine now, but would still be out of pocket less than $60k. With an ECU SHOP tune last year, it goes much better too now!
@LowRangeNick2 жыл бұрын
Cheers Dion! You made a good decision. The mu-x is definately a good choice when it comes to budget.

Interesting video What made u choose an afm bar over arb or ironman
@LowRangeNick2 жыл бұрын
The arb and iron man are very heavy bullbars and also stick out a fair bit giving you a worse approach angle than the afn. They also require a bumper cut I believe where the afn replaces the complete bumper.
@rich99032 жыл бұрын
Hi Nick. Great video as always. As mentioned in a previous post on your channel, I almost went for the new MU-X when they were first released. At the time, the top of the line was going for $64 odd K which I note is slightly more than your final costing. I ended up deciding to pay the ‘Toyota tax’ and go for the Prado after test driving it just after the MU-X. From my perspective, I was looking for internal space, reliability, comfort, parts availability, fuel economy and resale to name a few which I understand I would also get at varying comparative levels with the MU-X. Noting that I am still waiting for vehicle delivery (not too far off), I probably went a little crazy accessory-wise (but not too crazy) and started purchasing them from the time of vehicle order - thus far amounting to a whopping $18K and still not finished (includes a pre-rego 3.5T GVM upgrade). I have based my build on Harry Fisher’s Prado from Fire to Fork (buy well, buy once) and have been highly conscious of minimising the overall added weight. Retirement from the workforce is just around the corner for me and suffice to say that I have plans to do some serious travelling around this great country of ours with the family so I wanted to future proof the vehicle as much as possible. Horses for courses I guess Love your channel mate 🤙
@LowRangeNick2 жыл бұрын
You made the right choice Rich! In 2018 it was a no brainer for me because of the price difference. In 2022 the new mu-x is like you said 64k and a gxl Prado is very similar pricing. I think if I was buying a new wagon this year I would go the Prado for all the reasons you said. Good choice 😊👍

In 2020 I chose the BT-50 over a Prado due to what should be the same good logic as the video. Prado would have been cheaper due to canopy purchase. Now in Aug 2024, Carsales is listing mine for sale at $45-48k and Prado at $61-65k. I made a big mistake on value and all the bs problems & annoyances with Isuzu/BT. I now want the Prado and price & availability are crazy. I can't imagine this older Mux would be holding anything near Prado value.
@rich99034 ай бұрын
Yeah, 2yrs later owning the Prado and I haven’t looked back. That said, I do wonder about what the current model V6 Everest would’ve been like especially towing my 25ft hybrid. The Prado certainly does the job but you know it’s working. Can’t say the new model has grown much on me though. The old shape is much better in my books

Are you still a mechanic or do you just do KZbin now? I have some plans like this for my Amarok but only just working through complete service on all items on it as I’ve just got it second hand but it does help being a mechanic myself and access to trade parts and no labour costs. Thanks again.
