I was riding to school every day and I noticed a 1hdt 80 series sitting in the front yard with grass up to the door handles. I wrote a letter to the owner and left it in the letter box he called me a month later. Great bloke ended up picking it up for 18,000 in March 2022 It’s grandpa spec, 315,000 and it brings a smile on my face every day. It’s an absolute dream to drive. Hey Shauno, Awesome new rig mate, looks well taken care of. The best second hand bargain that I have ever come across for a 4WD was when I met my girlfriend, her grandparents had a 1995 Toyota Hilux 2.4L 22R petrol dual cab solid axel front and rear which I was eventually lucky enough to purchase off them after her grandfather unfortunetly passed away. They originally purchased it new from Kalamunda Toyota in the Perth Hills area and it was never taken off road just used as the family car that could carry the horses hay bales in the back and eventually all the grand kids learned how to drive in it. I am now the second owner and I purchased it for what they had it insured for, 3 grand with 160,000Ks on the clock, it has all the original rego papers, service manuals, receipts and log books. It came stock with leather seats and didn’t have a single after market modification but the alloy bull bar with brush bars and side steps that it came with, still has the AM radio without even a tape deck in it haha but It is daily driven and my family and I have made many great memories in it and has grown to be such a sentimental vehicle both for my girlfriend growing up with it and myself having gained 4WD skills and the confidence to get to those special places as it continues to surprise us with its capabilities. I was also born In 1995 so I feel as if we are ageing together :) Cheers for the great efforts you guys go to for the 4WD community, I look forward to the future adventures and info you guys share with us.

Nice buy Shaun. My bargain is a 2006 105 series that my old man gifted me after he purchased a new 79 series. It’s only a 1HZ motor, but with 180000km on the clock, there’s plenty more K’s to go. I’ll keep her stock standard for longevity. The Mrs and I are currently on our first road trip at Airlie beach from tweed heads, with a few days at Fraser Island on the way. We’re happy with the comfort on the highway to the inland tracks of Fraser. It hands down beats the Nissan navara it replaced in all aspects.

Awesome score there mate! I can't imagine it's going to stay overly stock for too long in your hands? Keep em coming! Great content, awesome blokes!!! I scored my gramps spec 1993 Daihatsu Rocky F78 2.8TD in 2011 for $10,000 127000km on the odo, one previous owner who had kept it immaculate! Always on time with servicing, recorded and kept receipts for major services and listed all ancillary part numbers (belts, filters, hoses etc.) in the front of the owners manual along with a record of when each item had been replaced (odometer, date and even time, with comments on noted other wear items due for change). I love the little Rocky it's comfortable, powerful enough (with a little help from a 2.5" turbo back exhaust and boost controller) and surprises people all over the place with just how capable she is on and off road! And the old ironman recovery kit I pinched from my brothers parked up Zook has quite a few years and recoveries under it's belt (most recoveries have been by the Rocky not the Zook). Soooo if ya's feel like slingin' us a snatch kit .

Nice buy mate, I bought a 2003 100 series with 80,000 km on it, lifted it 2 inches put a winch, elocker on the back end hooked up the camper trailer and took the wife and kids around Australia for 3 months. Best holiday we ever had. Mate can't beat a Toyota. Oh what a feeling 😁

Took a spontaneous day off work to go and pick up my 80 almost three years ago now. First time I’d ever been in one and knew I had to have it - 1996 1HD-FT with 161k on the clock, one owner and auto just like yours. Managed to get it for $23k and geez it puts a smile on my face every time I drive it!!

I have a used 1991 Ford Explorer 4.0 5speed limited slip ford 8.8 rear diff and Dana 44 front diff with warn lockouts. I paid 400.00 dollars for it originally from a friend who just loved it but he had too many vehicles. That thing my wife and son drove for years until it got parked with multiple issues for 4+ years behind the garage. After watching some of your 4wd 24/7 vids I put a battery in it and had it running in 5 minutes. It now has a 4” lift 31x10.5 tires, some new headlights and all new ball joints, universal joints up front and new steering box. I am currently replacing some body panels, have a new clutch and will be freshening up some extra heads for the engine. Thanks for the inspiration!

I bought my first cruiser from and old farmer in idaho in the states a 1987 FJ60 for $4,000! it had only had 110,000 miles on it and no rust! no body damage and perfect interior! it ran rough but i rebuilt the carb in my garage with my dad and it’s been running perfect every sense. i’ve kept the mods as tasteful as possible, i had the cylinders bored out and i swapped in a toyota 5-speed manual in my garage, it has a 2” lift and 33s and now has 305k kilometers but does excellent on the highway and off-road!

Shawn, my wife's uncle unfortunately passed away a few years ago and I purchased his 1HDFT from the family. He'd had it from new 397k, never off road but occasionally towed a boat. I've spent 8k on front swivel hubs and bearings, starter, alternater, rocker gasket (with inlet manifold clean whilst off) transmission service etc. Absolutely stock beautiful car to drive and my pride and joy. The "Mick Mobile" would rival your new find in condition, starts first time every time and I love it. Now I just need to get out and enjoy it, so the recovery gear will be an awesome and much needed addition.

G'day Shauno and 4WD 24/7 crew! Nice 80 series! I bought a very cool vehicle a couple of years ago! It's a Toyota Hiace Super Custom 1996 Full-Time 4WD, 1KZ-TE turbo diesel for only $8000. They usually go for $15000 to $19000+ normally. While it's not immaclate, it's still in good condition and I love it! it's been my daily driver and camper to get off the beaten track for the past couple of years! :-) I have a bed base in the back, side awning and for a non low-range vehicle it doesn't do too bad in the muddy stuff! I haven't ever got bogged in it! Cheers, James from Tassie!

It's gotten me into the offroading lifestyle on a uni student budget for less than a clapped out patrol or a cruiser would cost to buy before repairs and roadworthys these days. And for that reason it has represented fantastic value for money

4 months ago i brought a 1995 one owner gq patrol with a snapped timing belt for $3000 of an older lady who had only ran it to and from to the shops, brought it with plans of a barra swap, but decided to pull the old rd down to the block as it only has 180000km and to my surprise pulled the head off, and there wasnt a mark on it or the block, but decided once its off to refresh the motor, fast foward to now, its got a brand new head, injectors, glow plugs and it now runs like a brand new car. Also another great score on top of the imaculate condition is it had a full tank of diesel when we fired it up. Its now on club reg with plans to lift it, exhaust, wheels and to put a nice chrome grill and get the factory bar chromed and have it as a nice crusier as its too good to bush bash thank you

I think I got my 105 pretty right. Was looking for an 80 back in 2006 and couldn't find what I was looking for. Then I saw my 105 for sale, it was 3 years old, done very little off road and only 83k on it. An older guy had it and did a lot of awesome mods, mostly arb and tough dog 4 inch lift with a set of brand new 35 inch claws to match. At 40k, I couldn't go past it. I still have it, although it's got 440k on it now and doesn't miss a beat. Awesome rig

Back in 2008 I picked up a 1984 Rx-7 Series 3 13B for just $1000. My dad and I rebuilt the engine (multiple times), I had to learn how to drive stick (and rotary) and in the end after plenty of good times we sent it on her way 5 years later for a cool profit and heaps of memories. Dads no longer here but I’d love to find one and rebuild it again, only they’re worth $30k now.

Great video and find. Picked up the wife an early birthday present this year and scored a 2011 PK Ford Ranger XLT with 98,000kms for $21k. We are the third owners. Previous owner bought from a Ford Salesman. Has a TJM canopy we have since added a TJM rear bumper, side steps and Bull bar as well as GME uhf. New suspension to be added soon. First big trip will hopefully be down to the Snowy Mountains next year.

Aww geez! Rub it in.. what a specimen.. The best deal I ever got was an old land cruiser my friend's dad was talking about at a barbecue. I really wanted a 4wd but I knew I should get a truck and when he mentioned that he bought it as a project but didn't have time to fix it and none of his kids were interested in Toyota's. I mentioned that I was on a tight budget and he said he'd make me a deal. He also noted it wasn't running but he would help me get it going. After some crazy stories about his adventures in the oil fields in Africa I set up a time to go look at it. What on earth?! It was a land cruiser truck! A 1967 fj45.. $1000, more money for parts and we got old L.C. on the road. 29 years later it's sitting in my barn waiting for a restoration, no real fault of its own aside from neglect and a busy life..

I've remapped the motor, 3inch exhaust, catch can. It's like a new car. Service it every 5k myself, and done 100km. Still like new. It's a bloody work horse. Love getting out and wheeling.
