4 wheel steering helps so much with getting traction. IDK if you wiggle the steering to try and get the front end to bite, but I do a lot and it helps to find the traction for the front end. With 4ws I do the same thing and it makes a huge difference with getting traction for the rear. . Ultimately, 4ws allows the driver to position the front or the rear of the vehicle instead of just the front. If you're worried about servo failure then run something like a triple 7, extremely strong, and run a very strong sprint to center the wheels. If it fails it will try and track strait and the 777 can easily over power it. . I think you should try out the 4ws WITHOUT mix. Currently you have the radio mixing in the rear servo based on the program and what the front wheels are doing. With a GT5 radio you can throw the rear servo on one of the knobs and just steer it yourself. So on the nasty you can feed just a little crab steer to get the truck to hug the rock.

My preferred setup was 4ws and dig using aircraft transmitter for unmixed 4ws and 3 position switch for dig. Not a popular setup. Also I rarely see anyone point out how crazy of a decent you can do on steep downhills with dig. Will easily keep you from rolling down a big hill and you can decend very quickly.
@michaelramsey82 Жыл бұрын
I've also been thinking about an unmixed 4WS with an aircraft radio.
@robertfrancis94393 жыл бұрын
Which one do you prefer? I don't have 4WS on my 1/10, but I do on my 1/24. I can understand why people say it's an unfair advantage. I'm speaking strictly about the 1/24 scale here, but the 1/24 dig rigs can't keep up with the 4WS rigs on a timed course. 4WS rigs can be literally minutes faster because like you were pointing out, they have the multiple steering modes to use. Their only real competition is another 4WS rig. I wonder if having both would be good on a 1/24? On your 1/10 though? That thing must be unstoppable!
@ExocagedRC3 жыл бұрын
My Mjölnir truck has both 4ws and dig, I use 4ws way more than I use dig on it. But between both of these trucks in a comp I would choose OP3 because for some reason it just handles better.

4WS or Dig, both have benefits and counter but, having driven both. More often than not, the 4WS has been more beneficial for my circumstances. Fantastic video, and a perfect comparison between the two. Unfortunately, it was not truly an honest comparison...as one truck had overdrive gears that the other didn't. Additionally, the fact that two entirely different tires, with completely different tread patterns, were used, it was most definitely NOT an honest comparison. Nevertheless, it did give an honest comparison of how a dig vs 4WS works.
@ExocagedRC4 жыл бұрын
I appreciate it. The 4ws truck doesn't need OD gears because of the 4ws. The turning part was meant to focus on the dig vs 4ws but the normal turning set a baseline for each truck, the tires were different but they weren't the focus of this video.

If reverse is allowed isn't both of these overkill?
@ExocagedRC4 жыл бұрын
We don't penalize for reversing, having penalties for reversing is stupid and we will ever do something like that in any event we run. Reversing is part of our strategy and we purposefully put in gates and lines that are faster to reverse though. These features are not overkill at all when used correctly, when used wrong, both of them can hurt performance and scores.
