I think I am getting more thumbs-downs on this video because of my comment, "nobody does it better", referring to the brilliant hospitality of the Americans. Well, I stand my what I said. I can't wait to be back next year 2015.

Nobody does it better than America except for the fact that we don't have the new ranger, I have a 2006 4x4 and I wish so bad we could have that new one.

Maybe gay people are thumbs down because clearly that guy thinks being called gay is an insult. The British did quite a nice job of spreading their homophobia throughout the world and have never had to atone for the murders that has caused. Unfortunately when their colonies revolted against the empire and re-embraced their native culture they didn’t get rid of that unfortunate artifact of the occupation.

I disagree with the comment on the auto gear box. Thats really an individual preference. Iv been driving 4 and 5 speed manual boxes my entire life. A manual gear box gives you very high levels of control over your car that you just dont get with auto gear boxes. Personally automatic gear boxes drive me nuts! That said, a manual box is not for everyone.
@brianbirc
@brianbirc 7 жыл бұрын
jeremyxman My personal opinion is liking manual in small sports cars mostly and some other vehicles. For a large off road truck the auto trans is better. For climbing a sand dune or hard core climb shifting a large truck can prevent making it. Shifting while going fast over large whoops takes some control that could be needed to. The manual transmissions on large trucks are not performance shifting. I understand liking being in the gear you chose for the terrain you are in as a good thing. For the best of both a manual valve body upgrade to an auto trans is the answer. You choose the gear and shift without using the big clutch and taking the gas off and back on loosing momentum and traction needed in places.

Loved the last 5 minutes of the video with the "PAF" and the television. :) The Land Cruiser 200 has the same powerful but thirsty 5.7L V8 here in the states--both a blessing and a curse. Delightful if you don't roam too far from a petrol station--nerve wracking if you do. The LC is one of the few Toyota branded vehicles sold in the US made in Japan. Giant vehicles like the Tundra and Sequoia were designed primarily for the US market. Without the wide American roads driving such vehicles in a dense urban area would be painful. Hope you get a chance to enjoy camping in the US. :)

American in general & Afrikaans South Africans in game reserves have been some of the friendliest people I've met on my travels. Did you find the Toyota Tundra any good? They have one called the Tacoma, which seems more like a Hilux, but the Tundra is a lot bigger. Wonder if its as capable as the Hilux.

Lol man that hotel room, it still had a TV from 1987 in there haha I do N’t thing Zenith has been in business since then. We definitely had a few hotels like that while we were traveling from Colorado back to California :). What’s worse is you realize that there are people that actually live in those places like it’s an apartment and there are usually some shady shenanigans going on like drug dealing and what not. I’m sure you have similar places in South Africa.

Why come all the way to America, rent a Korean SUV, then to Arizona to drive a Japanese truck? Real American's buy American vehicles (those are few and far between); you probably should have driven one of those (though your findings probably wouldn't have been any different honestly). :-) Did you at least get out to see the Grand Canyon, or maybe some of the Indian ruins/cave dwellings in the area?

@Torvikholm
@Torvikholm 9 жыл бұрын
rogue109 The Tundra is an american truck. It's designed and built in the USA. it's only sold in North America and maybe a few middle eastern countries. But the fact that the car brand is from Korea or Japan, doesn't mean that the cars are irrelevant for the US marked. If I'm not all wrong both the SantaFe and the Tundra is being sold in fairly high quantities in the US. So why should it then be wrong to drive the cars then? Had he traveled to the US to test the new HiLux, a pickup that is sold in every country in the world except USA and Canada, then I'd understand what you're on about. But he's not. Nor do I expect that you'd be to happy for him saying that the GMC Acadia is absolute CRAP.
@4xoverland
@4xoverland 9 жыл бұрын
Torvikholm I agree with all the comments here. So this year I went and drove a true blue American truck. (A van actually) And I took it across the desert. The video will be posted soon.
@rogue109
@rogue109 9 жыл бұрын
Torvikholm You start out saying the Tundra is an American truck but it's not. The rest of your comment is predicated on that idea but it's a Japanese company, not an American company. And you are also wrong about me minding if he said the GMC Acadia was crap. I wouldn't mind in the least if that was his opinion, that's totally cool with me. I wouldn't know if it were or not though as I've never driven one.
