Great video! Our daughter still talks about our first camping trip to Kill Bear Provincial Park Ontario Canada, over 20 years ago.

So glad to hear that! I will try my best to show it of as good as I can. Going on trips with the family is great and I will try to get them to go on even more trips. 😊 I maybe need to scale up the "bathroom" area to get them to go on longer trips. 🤔

@@LandRoverDrive there are a lot of options out there now. From small composting toilets to bag units with a folding leg toilet. A rooftop tent or off road teardrop trailer would be a big help too!
@LandRoverDrive Жыл бұрын
Yeah, been looking at trailers that I can use with a roof top tent. Then there will be room for the whole family and for a toilet for the girls. 😊 Can't afford it at the moment so will have to get it sponsored in some way. 🤞

@@LandRoverDrive I can appreciate that! So many things to do so little time and money to get them done. I’ve a bit of experience building boats including cedar strip canoes, I want to convert my soft top to a cedar strip pop top camper, so my daughter has a bed above and I can sleep below. But I’ve also considered just a hard top and sides “roof top tent” made from insulated panels.
@LandRoverDrive Жыл бұрын
So many options to choose from. I guess you will have to just try one and see what will work. I found that the build is taking a very long time but that way I know a bit better what works and not. And the build is one part of the fun of overlanding and camping. 😊

Hey Jaroslav and thank you so much! 👍😊 I try to stick out from much of the mainstream KZbin content and my goal is that your heart rate should go down instead of up when watching. 😊 Of course still trying to make it interesting. Great memories and something you share forever. That is what I hope to do with these trips, create some special father daughter moments. 😊 Medical doctor is great, we need more of those going forward. And thank you, I'm glad you liked the video. More to come soon. 👍😊

It's absolutely wonderful to see Nicoline appreciating the tranquility and beauty of the river, while also enjoying a very special connection and bond with her dad. She will forever remember this! Very beautuful and powerful video Simon. And those drone shots as well,specially those where the drones were still while you drove your Discovery. All in all, a VERY special video for sure!!! No need to add the gorgeousness of stunning Norway as per usual. Much love from the island of Mauritius. 💙

Thank you so much, so much goodness and kindness! I’m so glad you liked it and it was a great time for us both on this trip. We still speak of it and are planning new trips. 👍😊 Norway is amazing when it comes to views and I’m just back from another trip which was mind blowing, even for me as a Norwegian. 😊😊 So many great videos to come. 🤙

I think it’s great that your little one wanted to come along. I too have plans to take my kids with me on some trips without their mum (we have 4 young boys). Up to now we have all gone away together but it’s a different trip with just the two of you.

It’s nice to get some quality time with them like this, no phones or interruptions. We have talked about this trip a lot and are planning another one soon. 4 boys, that’s a lot of energy in one gang. Good to get them out I would image. 😊 I hope to do a trip with all 4 of us as well but the oldest daughter like shopping more than camping so we will see. 😅

Hey Duncan and thank you so much! I do my best with the kids and hopefully they will turn out okay in the end. I guess that's what every parent can only hope for. 😊 She is one of the most positive persons I know and she can lighten up your worst day. So glad she is into camping and into camping with her father. 😊 The Discovery is one of the best family cars out there I think, it's really hard to beat when it comes to versatility, as you mention, the capabilities and the comfort for a family of 4 or 5. 👌 I've had this one for 9 years with 2 children from when they were 4 and a baby. Best car I have ever owned by far. Hopefully I can keep it running for many years to come. 🤞

@@LandRoverDrive Thanks for the reply! 🙏😁 I think you can tell what type of parent someone is by looking at how their kids behave and talk. You and your wife are obviously doing a great job. Well done! I have a 2007 Range Rover Sport right now. It’s the TDV8 engine because I tow large trailers occasionally and I do love it, but I am seriously tempted to look at a 2016 Discovery4 HSE Lux. It’s much more practical, for all the reasons you mention! Is, if they did a D4 with the TDV8 engine it would be perfect! Hmm… maybe a project to swap a D3 body onto a 2006 RRS TDV8 chassis, seeing as they’re the same car underneath…. Do you ever open up your road trips and adventures to others to join? Either with the Range Rover Sport or a Discovery, it would be great to experience the type of expeditions you and your group go on. 👍👍 Keep up the great work on the channel, and if you’re on Instagram also, check out @LRDakar (I started it as just a photo diary of vehicle work, but will start making short videos soonI think). 🙌🙂

Hei Bob og Jill. 👋 It was a great trip and so glad we decided to head out that weekend. It wasn't really planned. Hey Steph, and it's never to late for a LR party. 😂 A bit of carnerd humor.. Bad I know.. I love sleeping in the car, there's something safe and cosy about it, and you can park up anywhere to spend the night. 👌 My daughter loved it too and has asked me multiple time after this, if we could go camping. Now my daughter has grown a bit so need to make some modifications to the platform so we can both sleep on the top of the shelfs. I'm hoping for a great autumn and many nice trips. 😊 I wish you the best with your LR3, 2008 is a great model year. Simon 😊

This is really inspiring it makes me want to do the same for my daughter before she gets too old but i need to learn how to document it all 😮 The platform you built do those draws go all the way back and what was the idea behind that was it planned to use it as a bedding area and do you reccomend that over having just the seats down for more room to perhaps fit you both or did you have no choice because you needed storage 😊 I wondering whats the best solution a roof rack for most of the storage leaving the back fully open for max room or having a platform like you -- great video ❤
@LandRoverDrive8 ай бұрын
Hey, thank you so much and sorry for the late reply. I love the trips I do with my family, it really is the cherry on top for me when it comes to overlanding. The little one, who is with me on this trip, is the one that is most eager and she always makes the trips feel special. And I'm so glad I film and make these videos as we can share the memory forever. 👌 The drawers, on goes all the way to the seats and one is shorter. The idea was that I could use the car as a daily with the drawers inside so I didn't have to pull them out all the time. What I learned from having the Defender was that to go on more trips I need the car to be already set up. For easy Friday getaways. 😊 I planned the car out for one sleeping platform just for me, my goal was to get a trailer to fit everyone in, cargo trailer with a roof top tent. I still think this is the best solution as you can always have a trailer ready to go camping no matter the stat of your car. My youngest just happen to fit underneath my platform so it worked out great in the end. I now need to find another solution if she is to join as she is gotten a head taller. Depending on what you plan to have on the roof rack I would suggest looking at that first, then find a roof rack to fit you needs. Remember the limitation of the weight on the cars roof. The Disco 3 is only rated to 75kg. 😅 So with a 25kg roof rack you only have 50kg of carrying capacity left. 😉 Thank you again! Hope my answer helps. 😊 Simon
