New subscriber here. You find the most humorous ways to convey/reveal information to us: "You know how [the compression is] supposed to be the same across all the cylinders within a few percent it's exactly the same on every one"! I knew right then and there exACTly where that was going ('cause I've been binge-watching your videos tonight and also 'cause of the "Engine Fail" note in the title!)… 0 across the board! I LOVE that kind of humor! I find it makes for the best content.

I've had a couple, so don't mind if i'm a bit foggy. But those Solex carbs. There's a carb that was mounted on basically everything in Europe for a time, the zenith/stromberg 175cd (or cd2). Those, if my mind isn't entirely off the rails, where made to basically replace the old solex carbs that where used on those vehicles before. The 175 was mounted on Volvo 240's and Mercedes 200 (and many other vehicles) so they should be relatively easy to find. And they're absolutely 100% bulletproof. Maybe they'd be a good replacement carb for the solex on this. Since they're not top fed, they'd probably use less space. Just a thought from a mildly inebriated mind. This channel is excellent by the way. I've already subbed and am now going through your older vids.

It's about ready to say you're distributor is a little on the high side but once you put the cover over the carburetor you should be at the same height and you can just make a little wooden bump out that will the engine will sit under and make it removable so you can get to it to work on it or to service it

To clear the motor and they keep people from sitting on it you could do stadium style seating where the back row sits higher than the front row a little bit that way people have a good view just like the front row people do
@darploin50712 жыл бұрын
See if you going off-roading with that you might want to roll bar just so you can live to make another video and there's a easy way to do it because you're making a covered wagon the bracing for the cover over the back can be made out of strong enough material that can handle the weight of the vehicle on it so you have a roll bar but it doesn't have to be something that looks out of place in the design this is going to be an awesome build

suggestion, it would be cool if you made the fc 150 cabin a shell around the seat and steering wheel. I don't think it would fit whole

Just thinking and going with the same cheap reuse idea . A old small wheel barrow turned up side down would make a good engine cover shroud.
@LowBuckGarage2 жыл бұрын
That is a good idea, and I just happen to have one with a flat tire and broken frame in my scrap pile. I was thinking of turning it into an ATV sized dump truck, but this might be a better idea!

I would try removing the plugs and tipping a bit of 80w gear oil in each cylinder ,then see if it raises the compression , tow starting is another option , i would guess the rings a re stuck / rusty and would probably free up with some regular running ( hopefully ) , as always great video , you have great skills and your projects are fantastic , all the best from Australia 🇦🇺
@LowBuckGarage2 жыл бұрын
Thank you, I sure appreciate that! I think towing would have done it, but driving both vehicles by myself it seemed like a disaster in the making. I'm going to try solvent in the cylinders for a week to maybe loosen up the rings, then thick oil like you suggest to help it seal when I fire it up. Then I'll let it get heat cycle a few times, and keep my fingers crossed!
