4x4 @ Powerlines 2 - Zig Zag Newnes

This 4WD trip was done at the start of the second section of the powerlines track on the Newnes Plateau, north of Lithgow New South Wales Australia. It is classed as a medium difficulty trail, but we've tried to make it harder for ourselves. The lineup included 11 4x4 vehicles:
• silver TB48 GU4 Nissan Patrol Y61, twin locked, on 8" lift and 40" sticky Treps on Procomp alloy beadlocked rims;
• red, twin locked, Toyota Land Cruiser LC80 on 6" lift and 37" sticky Maxxis Trepador "competition compound" bias ply tires and beadlocked rims;
• white ZD30 "monster truck" looking Nissan Patrol Y61, twin locked, on 8" lift and 40" sticky Treps on Procomp alloy beadlocked rims;
• silver JK Jeep Wrangler;
• white, direct injected ZD30 GU Nissan Patrol;
• silver TB48 GU4 Nissan Patrol on 37" Pro Comp Xterrain tyres;
• black ZJ Jeep Grand Cherokee running an atlas transfer case, an 8" lift and 35" BFG KM2 tyres;
• white stockish Toyota Land Cruiser LC60 wagon;
• silver twin locked Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 90-series on 33s;
• gunmetal gray Toyota Land Cruiser LC76 on 2" lift and 33s;
• white LS V8 powered Nissan Patrol GU.

Well, bugger me. Here you are again, playing in the dirt. It's plain to see why the line inspectors use motorbikes and helicopters these days. That trail the Prado took at 14.00 was one I looked at while you were testing the other Hill of Death, and I thought, "Why not go up there?" But where would be the fun in that? Right? That bloody Patrol with the 37's goes just as well as the 40's when clearance allows. It's impressive. Good to se the sheilas out there to represent! The Cherokee at 16.14 just jogged straight up there. "Ride that wall!" "No way no way no way... yes way!" Literary gems! LOL So looking forward to the next one. Now my Monday, is complete. I do believe that the more diesel fumes you inhale, the more you think the gully is smooth as a baby's bum. Cheers guys! (oh and girls)

What winch and how did you manage to mount it on the alloy bar? was it a custom cradle?

Yes, it was a generic cradle bought from a shop, which had to be trimmed to suit. But, you can also make one if you're handy, like one of our members did on their Patrol.
