Weather, LOTS of POLLEN, and a minor back problem have kept me from shooting footage of the car. However, I did finally manage to make progress on my tiny 4x6 cargo trailer camper conversion. I sure did! In the 17 weeks since Thanksgiving, I've lost 56 lbs, 12% body fat (estimated), and nine inches from my waist. I've considered sharing a video about it here, but it would seem out of place amongst all of the GTI content (as do my trailer vids). hello again Sir, I just wanna say that so far I've been enjoying your videos quite a lot, I find a new little thing I didn't know about in every video, like on this one, first I learned about that Max X Fan which I looked up and it's just what I didn't know I needed for my van conversion build, I mean I knew I needed a fan , but I didn't know that model existed, ... second, it never occurred to me that I could just grab a flat bed small utility trailer and build on top of it with aluminum framing, I own a prius V 2015, it can haul 2,000 lb, and I had been looking for an empty utility trailer that is light enough to permit me to build a micro small living space inside, basically just a bed, a composting toilet and an improvised shower, all while staying under 2000 lb, but all the utility trailers on the market are built very heavy and wouldn't work, but thanks to you Sir I now know I can just build my own, so thanks a bunch!

Brake cleaner burns really hot! Don't ask me how I know. HAHA! I don't know where the wasps all went, now that it's cooler outside. But I'm ready for them! A sustained direct hit is required with brake cleaner. With wasp killer, I think the fluid just needs to touch them and they'll fall right to the ground due to the immediate assault on their central nervous system. It's good to have hobby during quarantine. :-)

Great Video...Can you make a video about which brand of cargo box, hitch carrier, and trailers you would recommend in 2020

Thanks for the suggestion. However, I cannot speak to this with authority because I haven't tested other products. I know I'd recommend my Carry-On utility trailer even though it's not square; I'd recommend my hitch carrier, but it's no longer made (so I recommend Curt); I don't recommend my Yakima Showcase because it leaked through its crappy rivets the first time it rained, but I'd recommend Yakima's Skybox (although I've never owned one); and I would not recommend a Homesteader Fury (this trailer) due to some truly substandard build practices. Instead, I'd recommend a WeeRoll even though it's more expensive and I've never owned one. I can make that video, but I'd have no basis of comparison to make my recommendations more compelling than just being some guy with an opinion. ;-) Thanks for visiting.

@@StealthGTI this reinforces my thoughts on weeroll and the price point from your roof box to a Sky Box is negligible and on Amazon right now I think they're cheaper and you can also open them from either side. Anecdotal information that gives us inexperienced people a direction is really helpful. Thank you.

@@NoZenith - FWIW, I like the finish on the SkyBox over the Showcase. That gloss black paint on the Showcase is very reflective and annoying to other drivers. I discovered that when the box was on my trailer and blinding me through my mirror. HAHA! The gloss also shows a lot of imperfections in the finish. The SkyBox has a textured finish; I think it looks better. Opening either box when sitting atop a cargo trailer may be a challenge unless you also have a step stool of some sort. You'd definitely need a step stool when you mount/remove either box since the attachment clamps are deeper inside the box than baggage. Make sense?

Geat I am also going to be doing the same with my 4x6. Bought two 12x22 windows teardrop door with window and a fantastic vent fan with cover. Can't wait to get it done.

I would seriously consider insulating the floor of the trailer too. The cold can really creep in and make life unpleasant.

For now, I'll stay with what I have. I don't currently expect to camp in frigid weather. That could change, though. Take Care!

Could this become a mobile ham shack?

It could, but I doubt I'd do it. My only radios are already installed in the car. So, that's where I'd choose to operate (the driver's seat). With that said, the trailer may make a good place to carry a large antenna for field day... or I could use additional cables to extend the remote displays/mics/speakers to the trailer. But I think I'd be more comfortable in the driver's seat; plus, it's less work. :-)

NZ - I'm not sure how many of my videos you've watched. I posted the first video about this trailer in January. Here's a link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jYSboJiipbKWirc. I don't know how much camping I'll actually do with it. I just want the option. Some campgrounds prohibit camping in cargo trailers. It's a prissy rule to make those with high-dollar campers feel special. ;-) Seriously, it's probably more about safety since cargo trailers are not built with ventilation in mind. Sleeping inside without airflow truly presents a suffocation hazard. My trailer WILL have ventilation. Anyway, I may camp in this box about 3-4 times a year. Its primary purpose will be to serve as a cargo trailer, though, which is an infrequent need for me since the "baby trailer" meets most of my needs. Thanks for visiting.

I don't know if you can see who's watched you'r video, but I already watched that one 😄 I've just been so busy and burnt out that I forgot about it until toward the end of this video and I already commented haha. I remember you walking into it. I can't believe I forgot about the other video because I would love to put something like this behind my GTI. I want to leave it modular to use as a cargo hauler as well. I have watched all of your stuff up until the beginning of February even the stuff I'm not interested in cuz I know it's supposed to help the algorithm and whatnot and I'm super appreciative of some of your stuff that no one else is putting out!

As far as I know, creators do not have a way of seeing exactly who is watching their content. I can see the percentage of male/female, countries, and general metrics like that. But I cannot see what YOU have watched. That would probably be a massive invasion of privacy, not only on the part of corporate giants like Google and KZbin, but for little guys like me, too. ;-)
