It's going to be interesting to see if there are any comments on how much that camper retains heat in the summertime given the amount of metal. Suppose it will be ok providing temps drop considerably after sundown.

Its not.... but Andrew is a business man... ask yourself, what is the most popular type of 4x4 that Australians use to get away.... Australian families that is. Answer : Dual Cab.
@zoezoe610
@zoezoe610 4 жыл бұрын
I think with canopies the structure of the canopy takes up most of the usable space. It won't be fun on a wet windy day and night. Each to his own though it is what Andrew likes.
@aggyMI
@aggyMI 4 жыл бұрын
Ditto, when Gwynn hit the nail on the head and said you didnt build it big enough. I have no doubt Andrew will utterly and completely convince himself that this is now perfect for "his" current needs. I can't see this one being a long termer, way more compromises than the troopy.
@thewhiteoxoverland
@thewhiteoxoverland 4 жыл бұрын
Totally agree. Nothing better about the double cab. Bigger heavier, separate living space. The only advantage is the larger cabin and increased seating. But if you're carrying four people around then this rig is too small anyway. And if you've got two people, then you don't need a double cab . I mean I get that this is more of a project vehicle for Andrew, but, for anyone seriously considering a fully equipped expedition rig, I would get over the obsession with the double cab and build something more sensible. There's a lot of wasted space in the cab of this vehicle and quite a long wheelbase and a lot of rear overhang and the troopy is much more functional and versatile in my opinion.

I'd love to see so many more hubby and wife outback trips, maybe where for a series (where you do a 6 part video post) one is dedicated to Gwynn chatting about her perspective on the trip, prepping food, some more insight into what makes a great trip for her. You're both the stars on screen. Amazing dynamic between you two. Very special to see and watch. Oh and absolutely great content. I've binged your videos for months now. Especially love when you get cranky, it's like watching me but you're way more expressive. Lol. You're content has pushed me to get out there and see Australia, I've got my ute and swag and slowly getting to grips with it all. Thank you, such a gift you have in inspiring adventure and I'm loving it. 😊

Interesting everyone thinks you’ll be back in a troopy soon. You may, but they also forget that with age, simple is sometimes better. I think this project was not about the ultimate tourer, but testing out how comfortable you can be in a small camper. You clearly have bigger plans with a lot of filming involved. As a photographer I totally understand how important the access to the back is. The troopy must have been a pain in that regard. This is a self-reliant filming base with a no compromises ethos towards living in a smaller space. Makes sense to me, it works for you and is not intended to be the solution for others. Great shakedown, although I think camping in rain is a crucial part of a shakedown.

Much better than the canopy on my Ex Telstra Patrol, I've got it set up for remote work and living, it does neither of them well, the biggest problem is no rear access because of the 2 spares bolted to the back wall. On a side note, my Uncle was a Quarter Master on the Queen Mary in the 60s.

I would be keen to see you experiment with a small cheap 'KMart' microwave from your battery/inverter setup and tell us what power output is required. Handy for heating a can of soup or that frozen meal or reheating that cuppa.

Hi Andrew, when the chassi was extended, did you or the builders address the need for changing the stearing arms to keep ackermann correct?? I don't remember seeing anything about this in a video. Please enlighten me. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ackermann_steering_geometry Best regards, Martin

Andrew i love the banter between you two. As my wife is vertically challenged i bought the OzTrail tyre step and it works a dream but it depends on the overhang of the tray/camper and much better than the step you are using (Also the same one my wife uses.. lol) Cheers
