Great game, fun to watch! I've recently switched to singles and liked the tips during play. Hope you do more like this!

Austin I’m finally watching the whole thing, how fun would it be to do another one of these, but it’s 2 playing and your commentating? Tips, play by plays, etc?

Honorable call from Averee to call the fault when her paddle hit the kitchen.

True! Although I’d have one the point anyway ;)

I'm wanting to see more pace change - maybe experimental games where you're going from drives to suddenly dropping it in the kitchen

Great entertaining match! Austin, you seemed content to sit back a lot on serve returns and baseline bash the point. Any tactical explanations for this or were you just kinda fatigued on these points? I've got a match in 3 hours vs. a tough Chilean who has wicked fast lateral movement, thanks for mentally preparing me by watching this. 🙏

I assume playing the NVZ line is more for doubles since you have twice the coverage, but with singles you may need to be farther back to have time to make it side to side.

Yes you have to move up wisely but usually in mens singles your at the net every time after the return (unless your return is popped up or shallow), watch the pros, you see this pattern 90 percent of the time or more (by my estimation only) - as seen in this high level match, the player at the net generally dictates the point

I’m curious as well. When Austin played against the pro - Chris something? - in another video of his he was at the kitchen line almost every time after returning a serve. Why did he play from baseline to baseline a la tennis for this match? Very curious. Great video btw as it was very informative and educational! Much mahalo!!

All dependent on my return. If I get a good deep return I’ll follow it in, if not I’m content to stay back and hit passing shots. Hopefully that makes sense!
