Love it! the Delica is an awesome pick over a torago or anything similar, great little engine with either the 4m40 or the 4d56 td, they have the super select transfer which was easily the best transfer of that era, should be loads of fun off road!

Good choice. It has a Pajero underpinnings, so you'll know it'll be ultra capable offroad. In case you didn't know, the Delica comes with Mitsubishi's Super-select 4WD system. This means you can shift it from 2WD to 4WD High (and back) on the move up to 100kph.

That maroon coloured L300 in the ad was the actual one i bought way back when... had 31"s , a 50 mm body lift flared guards, rear swing down tyre carrier ... was a beast but could only go 19 degrees side angle ... great to learn in though as it was my first 4WD. Fun fact: it went better than the showroom ones as they used previous emission controls and not the later ones, made it a bit harder to source parts though. !!

Got the biggest soft spot for these vans, the older L300 was the family 4wd growing, Can still remember mum hanging off the steering wheel trying to turn the thing because of no power steering 🤣

Wicked vehicle choice.👍 But I wish you took the challenge more seriously and spent the money improving the vehicle's capabilities (rather than putting a silly bar). Then again the challenges set for the different teams involved could be like Top Gear challengers, which could all be silly and nothing to do with going offroad or 4WDing.
