I live in MI too in Clarkston, try the Drag N Drops, they are super fire on a shakeyhead for smallmouth or largies, and also try the rattlin chunks and put them on a ned head or just a ballhead jig

Personally lake fishing my favorite bait would be the Sriracha craw rattletrap and my favorite pond bait would be linker log or drag and drop in a natural color. That seems to be what works. For Ponds, my favorite bait is a beatlespin. On the lake, we share favorites. I like rattle trap for lake and deeper ponds. Not good in shallower because of just becoming a grass catcher.
